My P229 9mm has been acting up lately, giving lots of fail to ejects. Whenever I shoot, the slide slides back, however the empty casing does not eject, and proceeds to feed back into the chamber. I had been wondering if it had anything to do with the type of lube used and the very cold weather, however my .22LR slide works just fine on the same frame, and when I rack the slide, it does not always eject or necessarily even fully extract the round. I field stripped the slide and compared how the extractor was hanging on to the case compared to my old P226.
Here is what I saw:
P226

P229

I realise that the old internal extractor and the new long extractor are different, and therefore may hang on to the case differently, but I thought that the difference here was rather striking, with the old extractor hanging on tight, and the new extractor looking like it is not really doing anything. I am just curious if any of you have seen this, and what to do about it. This was a Classic .22LR P229, with a 9mm xchange kit from Questar. Any info is appreciated.
