P30 Scratched First Time Out :(

I remember the shock, dismay and the way my little heart did cartwheels when I dripped my Sig Black Special at the gunrange onto the cement floor. A fall of maybe a meter just slid off the table and boom!

Now I shoot the guts out of it without any concerns, it's a little beat up but otherwise no worse for wear. You'll get over it, maybe :)

About 10 years ago I got a brand new Colt Anaconda. It came in the mail with a zap strap around the trigger and hammer. I couldn't wait to feel the trigger so I madly cut away at the extra thick zap strap and once it gave way my blade went right into the side of the gun. It took roughly 10 minutes of having the gun in my hands to put a scratch in it. After drying the last of my tears I got over it and chalked it up to a valuable lesson.

The first one hurts but after that just go out and have some fun with it, that's why you bought it isn't it?

It boggles my mind when I see people who have unscratched guns. All mine are beaten up to some degree.

not that i care about scratches but i've been out 5 times with my new hand gun i got a month ago, no scratches yet. that said i only range shoot for now so none of that action stuff yet. there wont be any storytelling marks on mine for a while i guess. i dont feel i'm being particularly careful with it either.

to those that say it's a tool, i agree. however not everyone sees it that way, especially with the way our laws are here. hand guns in particular aren't a tool for us, it's a luxury item.

Its like having a knife...it's not really yours until you cut yourself with it (unintentionally of course) or something like that.

I think it is just brass, looks like a scratch but a little gunzilla should wipe it right off. Try applying the gunzilla gently with your ######.

Guys, this is clearly a warranty issue. He should box it up and send it back to the manufacturer, and they will completely re-finish the gun for him. Free of charge, pre-paid shipping both ways, and with a lolly-pop to soothe his hurt feelings.

Cherry or lime?

I feel for you. When you take the resale value into consideration any marks on the item however cosmetic take something away from the value.

If you use them enough the wear exceeds the odd ding or scratch you will encounter in the lifetime of the firearm making the argument somewhat invalid. (Just my opinion)

The first scratch is the hardest....

HK slides scuff up really easy from brass. Mine do at least.

My CZ's have sections of finish missing!

Guns are tools, sometimes it takes many thousands of rounds through it to get over it.
