P320

You'll have to start reloading...haha that's only reason I can shoot 40 and especially 45.

I thought about it, but I honestly don’t have the time. The cost/time ratio doesn’t work for me. Right now I only pay $0.25 per round for American eagle 124 grain. I own an automotive repair shop so my time is limited and I have to factor in the setup costs of reloading vs my time to produce the rounds.

Yeah true..these days bulk 9mm is selling cheap. It took me a couple of years before I was set up to roll my own. It is a whole other hobby and I'm still learning/tweaking.

Yup this pistol is Lego's, the serial # is that small cutout you see on the frame. that the removable housing.

You just had to post that picture didn't you! My bank account appears to about to take another hit. In round numbers what is a good price on an X5? Peter G. has been grinding on me to get a 320...maybe it will go well with my PPQ Match.

How does it stack up against the M&P 2.0 in 9mm? Ive been looking at both but im also wondering if the PPQ is the way to go.

Both are great guns. The PPQ I think would be a step up for certain. Even with the Apex kit I still prefer the PPQ over my decked out M&P Pro. The SIG 320 would be at least the equal of the PPQ. I have not shot the X5 but the regular 320 is no slouch and is going to have full support for at least the next 30 years due the US Army having chosen the design for their duty pistol.

I should add I had them out this afternoon and from a practical sense I shot the Match, the PPQ M2 5" and my M&P Pro equally well. There really is no daylight between any of them for use in IDPA IMHO. I like the grip on the M&P better than the PPQ but they may be because I have shot it more. At 10 yards they all shot to an inch or less at 10 yards freestyle with about a one second cadence. Anyone of the guns, be it the M&P Pro, PPQ Match/M2 5",the 320 or 320 X5 will serve any shooter well. Pick the one you like and shoot the heck out of it.

The gun in the pic is not the X-Five but close. The butt on the X-5 isn't slotted for the standard mags and the slide has three top cut outs. It comes with a flat trigger and four extended mags. The beavertail is different too and the frame is weighted. It comes with a removeable extended magwell. I'm not sure about the weight in the other X frames. Then X-5 's rear site is adjustable and can be removed for an MRD.

The problem with a real X5 is they have it milled for that crappy romeo rds ...lol and is way overpriced.

Thats a real X5 frame, I just took off all the useless crap and fixed it to accept standard P320 mags.

Yep. I'm going to buy a plate so that I can mount my DeltaPoint. Adaptors are available for other MRD's and from what I have read, I agree with you on the Romeo. IMHO the best are Trijicons and the Deltapoint

I'm going to put aluminum extensions on my P320 mags. I actually prefer the feel of the P320 FS better. I'm going to buy a Grayguns grip module that will fall in the middle but looks sweet. Good looking job on your mod! It's a fun gun to play with. I'm putting Grayguns competition kits in both of mine. That will lower the trigger pulls by a bunch. I had it in a P320 before sending it to SIG for the "upgrade". The trigger was awesome.

Recent target with the P320 X5 with a Romeo1 sighting in some 147 grain Campros for IPSC use. Seated, slow fire but the RDS makes it easy.

Hercster - where are you sourcing your GG parts? The stock trigger is the only disappointing aspect to the pistol.

Great shooting, Bill. That is a respectable grouping from any shooter through any pistol.

Bill, 25m? Wow! That is an astounding grouping! I’ve shot a bunch of 320s including DILLI’s but can’t come close to that at 10yds!

Thanks guys, just wish I could shoot like that when on the move during competition stages lol. Its been a learning curve there for sure but with seven events now its feeling better and better, especially last couple times out. Almost 2k rounds through it now, was ready to throw it down after the first couple hundred lol, but kept at it and like I said it’s starting to come together - my aging eyes are liking it more and more. But yea, just sitting still and poking holes in paper at 25M the RDS makes it easy :) . This is better than I’ve been able to do with both my P210 or X5L1 - both with irons of course.

Funny you said you were going to throw it down after a couple of hundred. I’ve shot maybe 50 rounds through different 320s total and I never thought it was a particularly accurate gun. I’m used to striker fired guns so I assume the SIG was just a normal gun. Guess I never gave it a chance.
Glad you persevered!

The RDS definitely helps for long shots as the FSP is bigger than the bullseye at that distance. 2MOA Dot?

Actually I did also have a P320 full size previously and just couldn’t cotton to it and ended up selling it. But the X5 version just feels worlds different - the grip, heft, recoil; all just seemed “right” for me. The whole learning curve/wanting to throw it down was all just related to getting use to the RDS in competition settings, especially “finding” the dot when first bringing the pistol up on target. And that’s the part, with many rounds thru it, that is now coming along better. Still some ways to go maybe, but I’ve had my “ah ha!” moment with it now and I’m enjoying the pistol all over again:) .

PS its a 3 MOA dot and I like these specific targets in particular because it’s very easy to sight the dot in the exact center I find. And with the hi-vis coating I can still actually see the shots land at 25M lol.

OP, sorry for the side track, but hey it is P320 related - try an X5 version if possible, it’s a great pistol :) . Not saying the P320 isn’t, or the other two you mentioned, I’m sure all are great. Just that some work better for some than others, this version I kinda like again.

Good thing I’m not AB Blaster, or I’ll say something like “feel is rubbish”! LOL!

I hear you about acquiring the red dot from the draw. I’ve had many issues with trying this on other people’s guns. Always feel like I’m craning my neck up to catch the dot. For this reason, I’ve been reluctant to buy a RDS equipped pistol. I may give in when I get truly blind! But for now, I just stay away from anything further than 20yds!

“Craning your neck”...yup that’s it exactly, and what I’m not having to do anymore now lol. Again, it’s been a real learning curve but I think I’m going to put one on everything now even the damn patch gun :p
