P38 ejector help

I have a P38 receiver with no maker markings . This is in my other post. I have parts from a wwll byf 43. All parts seem to fit but the ejector with no spring does not go down fare enough . It hits the slide ??? . Not sure if a ejector with the spring is the same as with out the spring. Even the ejector on it's own in the receiver will not go down fare enough still hits the slide ???. Thanks for any info
 
It is a steel frame. Markings on the back right side frame DE 2017, left side front ser.# 2699E & the back 208 Z. On the tops of the frame etching #'s looks like a up side down V 4239.
 
I have no problem putting the parts on the frame. There are some good videos on U T. The ejector will not go down fare enough for the slide to go over the ejector. The ejector top needs to go down at lease 1/6 or less so not to hit the back of the slide.
 
The hammer has to be cocked, or decocked, one or the other for the ejector and disconnect to be able to push down far enough. Try it both ways, one will work.
 
I have tried just having the ejector & pin only in the frame . The ejector will still not fall below the top of the frame . The top of the ejector is still above the frame were the slide goes over .
hitzy will give that a try.
