Found this p38 holster today. Looking for some information on it as I can't seem to find a pebbled holster that looks similar to it. Is it authentic. Looks nicely worn. What's it worth? Thanks

Looks to me to be an authentic pigskin holster. It is RBNr marked, thats the maker code, and p38 marking is good the 1944 marking is fake and hurts the value. As does the condition. It looks like its been polished in the past and is generally more worn then most. Id peg the value below $200. Interesting, but not in collectible condition anymore sadly.

Too bad it has that 1944 stamping on it. There is a makers code on it. It is 0/0655/0013. I found it at a gunshow yesterday mixed in with a bunch of holsters. I only paid 20 for it so I figured I did ok no matter what.

Awesome. What makes you think that the 1944 is fake? Is the font not proper? Should it be in another spot?

The type of stamp, the location, the fact that RBNR marked stuff usually has no year. It it was a 44 only right below then maybe. And maybe I'm wrong, but I don't like them. And have owned 5 or 6 p38 holsters and looked at hundreds.

Just a comment regarding RBNr marked P.38 holsters.

I have a '44' dated P.38 hardshell holster-- 'gmo' manufactured, with WaA204 , and RBNr # .“0/0655/0013”

I suspect that the holster shown is 'pebble grained leather' that may have been treated with something.

What's your opinion with the 1944 stamp. Is it authentic?
