p38?

Well, I think someone is trying to rob you unless it is specified it really was Hitler's personal pistol when gardening and there's a picture of him with it and a personally signed paper from his hand...
PP.;)

+1

You can get a post war p-38 or P1 for 300-500$ in excellent condition these days.

I was thinking of picking up a rusty P38 with a shot out barrel for 750-

What do you guys think?

Your not serious are you? I hate saying this but before you do something that silly I will sell you a P38 with a new looking bore (nice sharp tool marks and all) for $850. I would never pay that much but if you are going to then why should I not be the luck SOB to take your money.

Contact JP on the cgn forums, he runs ps militaria in sherbrook qc. Really good guy and he has a massive stock of milsurps. Search ps militaria in google for his website and online stock.

now now people. You musnt confuse a p1 with a p38. Value is not symmetrical. If your looking for a p38, then dont buy a p1, if you looking for a shooter, buy a p1. 750 is about market value for an all matching, very good condition p38. You can get alot of p38 for 750. Or 2 p1's for that matter.

Hi Guys: My question was "tongue in cheek" ;)

I know the value of one, but saw one described as above for that rather silly price....one of those things that makes you give your head a shake.

I also saw the listing.

But it has matching numbers and it is a Walther.

I have seen a few listings for P38's with leather holster and 2 mags for $319
post war german police issue .
Also P1's $299 with 2 mags and holster also german police issue .
At that price i am likely to purchase one.
so what is the basic difference between the two . and which would be the better one . they look nice in the pictures on the web site.
there seems to be a lot of them around at the mo.

$750 is TOP DOLLAR for a nice, matching gun with most of the accessories. If the bore isn't PERFECT (and I do mean PERFECT), then $600-650 is about max.

These are dealer prices.

For a private purchase, I would not personally go past $550 for a nice example.

He is so dreaming for a sucker! Unless it is in unbelieveable condition with some sort of distinct markings attached. Asking that much money with no pictures attached??? I don't know.

I bought a World War II P-38 for WW II Re-enacting matches on this board back in January. It was a plain jane issue P-38 with all the applicable German Army markings for $450.00 shipped. I bought a couple of spare mags for $25.00 apiece from the company that brought in all the P1's.
