Hi there, are these pistols prohibited? I was under the understanding that it had been cleared up, and they were only restricted now. I talked to CFC a couple years ago, and that was what I was told then. It had something to do with them meassuring the barrel wrong. Can anybody shed some light on this?

I seen that. They are listed on the HK pro website as having a barrel length of 105mm. That would keep it prohibited, but I was sure they changed that ruling at the CFC.

Man! P7M13s?! I so wish I had the skrill for one of those! Well, I do kinda have to get my PAL and RPAL first but I won't see 'em until the end of November if I'm lucky.

I owned a PSP ex BMI once, right now I'm first on wolverines list for a P7M13.

What kind of price if you don't mind me asking. If you would rather not say here, you could always PM me.

Yeah I have always wanted one of these since the first time I seen one Pilgrim!

It definitely takes getting used to. I used to shoot a lot of bullseye competitions, and I would keep my finger grip on the firearm a little on the light side. That doesn't work well the PSP I shot before. That being said, it didn't take long to adjust to it either, it was just a little different.

I never got the hype on P7's.

I've never handled one, but I just think the grip safety would make your hand tired with prolonged useage.
It's designed such that a fair amount of pressure is required to depress the
lever, but once in, the amount of pressure required to keep it there is less.
A 'rookie' P7 shooter makes that error...feels like you need a 'deathgrip' and
sure enough, it's tiring.
Like road racing a motorcyle or swinging a golf club, once you relax on the
grip(s), it works a lot better and it starts to make 'sense'!:D

Some of them are registered as prohibited (usually ones that were measured whem C-68 came into effect).

Do they actually have 105 mm barrels, or were they measured incorrectly?

The barrels are more then 105mm but less than 106mm. It is down to an interpretation of the rules, by individual verifiers, that causes the discrepancy.

The P7M13 has a very blocky grip and I don't find it comfortable (at all). The P7M8 is a nicer pistol IMO. Especially in Canada, because of the ten-round magazine restriction. There are a lot of surplus P7s from the German Interior Ministry floating about in the US at the moment, you might be able to get one imported. The original P7 is a nice pistol, it just gets a bit hot. And mag changes take forever.

The law states that any barrel with 105mm or less is prohibited. 105.001mm is more than 105mm. Seems pretty clear to me. Silly but clear. I've got a PPK with a barrel just a fraction over to make it restricted only.

I agree. I've only handled a P7M8 but I think the extra width in the M13 wouldn't be worth it, to me, for 10 rounds versus 8. Especially if you want one for CCW in the US or elsewhere.

What are used ones going for in the US? It would have to be a huge savings for me to buy used. They are about $1800 new here IIRC.

I agree. I have owned both and I prefer the M8. I think the blocky grip on the M13 is not congruent to the sleek profile of the rest of the gun.

I have an M8, and an M13 on the way (after getting mags blocked to 10 rounds).

The M8 is a lot slimmer than the M13. However the trigger etc on both is basically the same.

I have big hands and so don't mind the M13's thicker profile. However, I do think that the M8 is slightly more comfortable, but then again you have only 8 rounds.

The part about your hand getting tired after prolonged usage is rubbish. After squeezing initially I find that I can keep it cocked using my little finger. Your natural grip tension is enough to keep it that way.

Agreed. I can keep the cocker squeezed with my pinky after it's cocked. I think the HK site says it takes 1 pound to maintain the squeeze cocker once cocked.
