pachmayr decelerator vs. limbsaver ?

Maybe more like Acura vs Lexus:) In my experience, both are great. If you have to grind to fit, my vote would be for the Pachmayr. Good luck!
 
I stuck a grind to find limbsaver for bench shooting and it removed all discomfort I was having. I read a bunch of reviews on all of them, including kick-eez. I think if you try all of them you might prefer one over the other, but in the end they all at least help. Its hardly an investment at under $50 for most pads, so worst case scenario you end up spending another $50 on another rifle down the line to find out which one you liked the most.

The main conclusion I got from my research is that they are all pretty good.
 
I have used both and prefer the decelerator. It looks better, is available in many styles, sizes and several colours and does a good job. The limbsaver is mushier.
 
I tend to lean heavily towards the Decelerator if looks are a factor, especially wood-stocked rifles and shotguns.

If the rifle is a fast recoiling, heavy recoiling cartridge then I like the Kick-eze.

Average cartridges and recoil, synthetic stocks, then I lean towards the Limbsaver.
 
Limbsaver works a bit better, Decelerator looks and lasts a bit longer. Some of my Limbsavers look like a beaver chewed them to fit after they have some miles on them; but most rifles have an easy life. I've seen them melt due to what I think was a chemical reaction to something or other. Sort of like how plastic baits sometime ate old tackle boxes.

X2 on this one...if you're grinding to fit then the Pachmayr is the way to go!
 
I've fitted both Pachmayer & Limbsavers and like both. For large bore rifles & shotguns I'll usually go Limbsaver &
for most other lighter kickers I put on Pachmayers. Pachmayer rubber is denser and grinds easier with the tools
most often used for doing the job.

The main thing is to match the grit of the abrasive and the speed of the disk or belt to the rubber being worked.
You can lean on a Pachmayer more than a Limbsaver before the compound starts gumming. I use a belt sander
with speed control to do initial shaping, then finish with a paint stirring stick with a 220 grit sandpaper strip glued to it.

Works better than a fine file & gives a smoother finish.

Pachmayer pads are more durable than Limbsavers on hunting guns that see lots of use in the field for sure.:)

Took extra time with 400 grit strip paper to get out the high spots and smooth the rubber.

like tires.

Pachmayer: Continental Touring.

Limbsaver: Goodyear "bubble gum" drag slicks.

Limbsavers are cushier for trap guns and Pachmayers are easier to work and more durable for
hunting guns.
