We will be holding the first ever M-14 Rifle Clinic and Support Group on May 23rd in the Pacific Northwest.

When will it be: The clinic will be held at the Custer Sportsmen's Club in Custer, Washington from 10 until 3 on Saturday May 23rd. Tom (45ACPKING on Canadian Gun Nutz), an M-14 rifle builder who has hosted many of these clinics in British Columbia, will be traveling south to lead the clinic.

Who can attend: Anyone who is interested in learning more about the M-14 type rifle is welcome to attend. You don't have to have a rifle but it helps if you bring yours as you can then practice the various steps on your own rifle. We are limiting attendance to the first 25 people to sign up so would ask that you not sign up unless you are sure you can be there.

What will happen: At the clinic we will cover basic dis-assembly of M-14 type rifles, inspection of the various parts, match tuning, and safety procedures. We will have complete sets of tools for replacing barrels, checking headspace, and a variety of other operations that are routinely performed when building and tuning rifles.

What does it cost: We do not charge for the clinic but there is a small charge for using the Custer club's facilities. We are asking for a $10 donation to cover these costs and will provide donuts and coffee in the morning. You will also have an opportunity to use the range in the afternoon which costs an extra $5. The range has bays from 50 to 250 yards. I will sign in anyone wishing to shoot as a guest.

What should you bring: Any and all M-14 type rifles that you own. Any tools you have for working on these rifles. A positive attitude and a willingness to have fun and learn. Ammunition and targets if you plan on shooting. Lunch as the only food nearby is a Subway at the freeway off ramp. If you have stuff to sell feel free to bring it. We will set aside a table for people to barter and trade.

Directions: The Custer Sportsmen's Club is located on Birch Bay-Lynden Rd. It is east of Exit 270 off of Interstate 5 and is about fifteen minutes north of Bellingham.

This is more of an informational post than a solicitation for attendees as the primary audience will be Western Washington.

Hi powmia56.
We met a few months ago at Tom's place during one of his clinics there. In fact, you popped off my flash hider on one of my guns for me.
Anyway, best of luck in setting up a WA clinic.

And for any Canucks heading down, I shouldn't have to say it, but
DO NOT BRING A CHINESE GUN ACROSS THE BORDER!!!
Ignore this advice and you'll be sorry.

This will be a pretty cool event..... but sadly, my rifles will have to remain home. It's o.k. as I'm sure our brother's across the line will have many for me to play with.

I'm looking forward to this clinic and am a little flattered that i was asked to host it.
This is after all the west coast m14 support group....... so washington state .... here i come ;)

if anyone from this side of the border has a passport and wants to be my co pilot...... send me a message.
cheers
thomas

Well,
we held the first "international" Pacific NW M-14 Rifle Clinic & Support Group meeting today. One lonely Canuck faced off against a handful of Yankees, most of whom brought their Springfield Armory M1As to the party.

This was the most M1As I've seen in one room at one time.

The Yanks were pretty cool about the Canuck telling them that the Springfield M1A was NOT perfect ... even the brand new one that had just come back from the SA factory after warrenty work.

And NO, the loaded SA with the stainless Steel barrel was NOT supposed to have those concentric circles in the chamber!!!

All in all, they took it like good sports, so we will probably do it agin.

Kudos to POWM1A for arranging the venue, and putting it all together.

It was, in fact, excellent. Thanks to Lazerus for stepping up and helping out with the presentation and discussion when our primary plan fell through at the last minute. Talking to a couple guys afterwards and they were thoroughly impressed with both the concept and execution of the clinic. We will be having more. Pictures to follow.

So how did the Yanks feel about a Canuck teaching them about their rifle? Was kinda wondering about how this turned out?
