We will be holding the first ever M-14 Rifle Clinic and Support Group on May 23rd in the Pacific Northwest.
When will it be: The clinic will be held at the Custer Sportsmen's Club in Custer, Washington from 10 until 3 on Saturday May 23rd. Tom (45ACPKING on Canadian Gun Nutz), an M-14 rifle builder who has hosted many of these clinics in British Columbia, will be traveling south to lead the clinic.
Who can attend: Anyone who is interested in learning more about the M-14 type rifle is welcome to attend. You don't have to have a rifle but it helps if you bring yours as you can then practice the various steps on your own rifle. We are limiting attendance to the first 25 people to sign up so would ask that you not sign up unless you are sure you can be there.
What will happen: At the clinic we will cover basic dis-assembly of M-14 type rifles, inspection of the various parts, match tuning, and safety procedures. We will have complete sets of tools for replacing barrels, checking headspace, and a variety of other operations that are routinely performed when building and tuning rifles.
What does it cost: We do not charge for the clinic but there is a small charge for using the Custer club's facilities. We are asking for a $10 donation to cover these costs and will provide donuts and coffee in the morning. You will also have an opportunity to use the range in the afternoon which costs an extra $5. The range has bays from 50 to 250 yards. I will sign in anyone wishing to shoot as a guest.
What should you bring: Any and all M-14 type rifles that you own. Any tools you have for working on these rifles. A positive attitude and a willingness to have fun and learn. Ammunition and targets if you plan on shooting. Lunch as the only food nearby is a Subway at the freeway off ramp. If you have stuff to sell feel free to bring it. We will set aside a table for people to barter and trade.
Directions: The Custer Sportsmen's Club is located on Birch Bay-Lynden Rd. It is east of Exit 270 off of Interstate 5 and is about fifteen minutes north of Bellingham.
