The thread on Arfcom is in the archives so I can't link to it.
The top rifle is Mark LaRues.
One of our Mods Lacelot dug this up for you!

Incidentally... for those of you saying WTF?

That's a Larue 11.0 (which isn't listed *anywhere* on their website.)

I've been debating various rails and called Larue today (yeah... I slack at work) and none other than Mr. Larue answered the phone. While discussing greater than 9" rails he said that the 11.0 (which is actually 10" w/1" extra at the 12 o'clock position) was the way to go with a 10.5 BBL.

It would appear that they're going into production in the relatively near future.

Now to get my hands on one...

(Incidentally, he also mentioned they're working on a new return-to-zero mount for low profile optics... I say a pic and will see if I can post it.)

If I can get one it will look sweet with the Troy flip up front / rear sights.

for us semi retarded people, is that some sort of laser device on the front rail top? Was wondering why it was red? Is it a power indicator? Or is it an optical tube like an ACOG?

Ahem, that's the Insight Technologies AN/PEQ-2 IR/laser designator I said I was willing to prostitute myself for. It's sold exclusively to LEO's and the military, but civies can get surplus models from $1400 and up.

thanks for the info. I have heard of them, but never seen one in a pic before, all nice and tasty like that... nice setup

So it's basically an invisible-by-naked-eye laser dot / invisible-by-naked-eye illumination that can only be seen by NV optics right? What's the effective distance on it???

Would that be redundant if they switch to eothingy 553?

Good for at least that distance. Very effective when you are indicating targets and the enemy can't see the laser beam. Eotechs and Aimpoints have a night vision setting so you can see the dots with the NV goggle.
Hoddie.
