Paging Rebel Rouser to the Black Rifles Section ...

Well I don't know if my luck is good or bad considering it's not mine, but I certainly have range privileges with it, and I'll have first dibs if it goes up for sale. ;)

I eyeballed it vs a Noveske upper that is actually mine, and it looks like a standard pic rail to me, it just seems that they cut a 14th slot at the back of the upper.

It's hard to take a good comparison photo without stripping the uppers and putting them side by side (which I don't trust myself to do) but you sort of get the idea here:

Measured the two uppers and a Bushmaster upper I had in spare parts. All measurements in mm.

Sure looks like a C7/C8 upper reciever to me, the rail front punch should confirm this. Is it possible to look on yours if there's any punch? All SA's had the M4 front rail punch like this:

Like greentips said, the rail has narrower slots therefore the possibility to add one at the back, the back of the rail is also trimmed to be level with the cocking handle where on the SA the rail protrudes over the CH, the front of the rail is deburred. Here's a comparo with my SA20:

Both have M4 feed ramps, must have been added prior to fitting on this particular C7/C8 upper because the CAF uppers don't have this (unless special ordered).

Is it possible for you to measure the slot centers? A few of them to see if they are consistent from front to back. MIL-STD-1913 should all be 10.01 where Weaver can vary a bit witch is why Weaver railed access. will fit the Picatinny but not the other way around. Remember that the original C7A1 had the Weaver rail on them where the A2 were updated to the 1913 rail.
 
The distance between centers would be measurement "B" plus measurement "C" which is 10.00mm. The numbers in the table are an average of 3-4 measurements on different slots/rails.
 
Someone just told me about this. It is a C7/C8 upper. Being a M4 upper making it more rare. You can tell because of the extra slot in the rail and at the back it has that area by the charging handle machined.

Maybe I should sent mine back since it has a nice scratch on it. What do they drag these things behind a pick up on a gravel road before the ship them. LOL

I have some Colt made Diemaco marked M4 uppers that I imported from the US if he wants to trade...

Well just bought another SA15.7 and while I was inspecting her, I found that the rail had 14 slots instead of 13 like in both my other SA15.7 & SA20. Just like Grapeshot's original pics of his SA20. It's indeed a real C8 upper on this SA15.7.

Don't know if it matters but this particular one is in the early #00500's while my two other green furniture SA's are in the early production late #00050's

Now, I'm wondering how many SA's came that way from factory. Is the M4 stamped 13 slots rail or is this C7/C8 unmarked 14 slots rail more common upon Diemaco SA's?

There is a mixture of them out there. Mine are 1913. But I know a couple of guys that bought some and they had weaver rails. I don't know if they run out of 1913 and are using up old stock.
 
Yeah, it seems they were common on the later model SA15.7s. I picked up a couple as well. I now have a matching pair (SA15.7 & SA20) with the 14 slot rails. :cool:

You guys that had the 14 slot rails, were the serial higher than #500?

Looks like the "early" production SA's (both 15.7 & 20) had the T12 rail and later ones the 14...
