I have an older Rem 700 In 7mm Mag. The finish is 50% I'm thinking about a Camo Paint job on it and just wondering Is there a Right way to do it? Or am I just going to ruin my rifle and just have an ugly piece of wood that Im embarassed to show to a dead bear?

Comil_1983,

Personally, I use paint-varnish remover, then I sand the stock smooth, put a coat of primer and once all fully dry, I start the paint job. For the checkering (if any), I use a tooth brush with paint stripper to remove and clean the old varnish and a coat of primer afterwards. You can use natural camo style with leaves patterns, real leaves, spruce branch, twigs, decals, tape etc etc, whatever's availlable.

Don't worry, if you don't like the job, strip again and start over, sky is the limit, let your imagination run free ;).

Good luck

Thanks!!! I'll probly be buying paint today. Ill try to post Pics when I'm done but It will take a while cause I don't have a Digital Camera.
