Paint Job Pics

How tough is the finish when your done??? Is it prone to chips ?? or easily scratched?? Has anyone used automotive paint??? I am thinking of asking the tech's at my work to pass my daughters rifle stock through the paint shop.

what i do, is paint it up camo how i want it.. with lacquer or primer type paints ( just not filthy enamel ) .. and take it down to my local car painter .. he runs a couple coats of matte clear over it, i give him beer.. we are then both happy.
never had wearing on my paint or any chips

Here are some of my first attempts at painting stocks.

Hello All,

I have been looking at painting my shotgun ahead of this years waterfowl season. So far I found that most people seem to be using the krylon camo paints from Canadian Tire. In reading this thread I also found that I should at least use primer on the gun, is there a special type of primer I should use?

pharaoh2, i tried to access that link but it does not take me to any thread just to the main site. Hopefully I can come up with something close to yours.

My shotgun is a Rem. 870 SuperMag in black matte. Is there anything I should watch out for or know before attempting this on my gun?

Thanks in advance.

Remington Sportsman I did to sell.

Old Remington Sportsman I had kickin around and never shot, So I decided to clean it up and after 3 different paint variations I was finally happy with this one. Let me know what you think. I will try and find pics of others I have done.

I think you'll have to look around. It's been years since I read a thread on that site about painting. You really can't screw up. If you don't like what you've done you paint over it. As for primer use automotive stuff. And about your gun, as long as the surfaces to be sprayed are clean and rough enough to allow the primer to bond to, your good to go.

I have a Remington 700 in .308 that a friend painted up the stock with that removeable paint kit that SIR used to sell ... it's no longer on this rifle but collecting dust in a corner ... :p
