Paint me stupid. - T97 gen 2 charging handle wont pull back all the way.

Put 20 rounds through it today. Went to shoot again with a freshly loaded mag and now wont chamber a round. Charging handle only pulls back 3/4 of the way through its full travel prevent round from loading. What obvious thing am I missing here?

Not really familiar with the T97 but I’ve seen blown out primers do this to ARs.

Can you load a round from an open bolt? If the bolt is plain stuck, something must be jammed against it.

I can pull the charging handle back, but not far enough back to allow a round to chamber.

Then check for an obstruction of some sort. Can you disassemble the entire rifle and bolt group?

Well, that's unexplainable. Pulled the bolt carrier group out. Inspected. Nothing obstructing. Nothing binding. Reassembled. Works fine, no issues.

Makes no sense but I guess I'll take it as a freebie.

If the hammer is down and the safety is on, you can't charge the weapon. The safety blocks the hammer from going past it in both directions. Safety off, chamber a round, safety on.

Safety wasnt the issue. Wouldn't charge with or without safety on or off.
