i am looking to paint my wooden norinco m14 stock. i have heard that the oil/perservative used in the norico package will prevent any paint from settleing into the wood. so what i was wondering is, what can i use to get all the oil out of the wood so i can paint it. i have heard leave it under a heat lamp to have it push the oil out. i have also used break wash which has done a fair bit of cleaning on the outer layers of the wood. any constructive info will be usefull.

You need a Brownells catalog. They have everything you need, which - in this case - might be stock whiting.

Quickly Draws Excess Oil Out Of Gun Stocks

Simple “paint-it-on, brush-it-off” process literally draws soaked-in grease and oils out of any oil-finished or oil-soaked gun stock. Especially useful on military stocks. Same method as described in the traditional gunsmithing books and just as effective now as then. Just make a thin paste of Whiting and methanol or TCE, acetone, or toluene and paint it onto the stock, then brush if off after it dries and darkens with oil. Warming gently speeds process. Repeat if needed; raise dents, sand and finish as usual.

I for one took the plunge and threw the chu wood in the dish washer. I first did a pots and pans cycle, but I found there was a little more to be removed, so it went back in for a normal cycle. I just used one of those detergent cubes my wife had lying around.

As for the CZ, since it is essentially MDF, I wouldn't put it in the washer.
 
Being a painter by trade the dish washer method really makes me laugh. Go to your local paint store and by methyl-hydrate and some rags, add a little elbow grease and viola. Mint! and no risk of water damage or problems in painting ether. Also works on stain's in carpet too.
