Paintball Sized targets at 100 yards?

well i've been happy with my savage TR, i'm not shooting very well just yet as i need to sight in my scope properly. i can get .5" groups at 25m with cci blazer. thats with a bipod and the back end propped up with boxes of ammo.

Yikes, at 50m I can do that with my stock 10/22

Too bad its a .22 requirement, my savage .17 shoots under .5moa at 100 yards consistently, not even benched

Custom bbl on a savage, I've done lots that would hit paintballs all day for under 1000$.

Stevens action 300$
Shilen Match BBL 340$

Still leaves you 360$ toward scope etc.

Be hard to do it consistently with a semi

EDIT>>>Ooops...just noticed this is the rimfire forum....

Can you do a barrel for a 300wm?

i use my savage TR , gun price was $450 or so. scope $200 Rings $25.00
it's not a semi but it Shoots Real nice.

I first went the 10/22 route. I started building it up and had great plans for it.... Then out of the blue I bought a Savage Mark II BTVS. I sold the Ruger very quickly and never looked back. Right out of the box the Bolt action Savage shoots 1/2" Groups at 50 yards and under 1" at 100 using CCI Stinger ammo. For $550 there was no point for me to go the Semi route. If you miss the first shot you likely aint going to make the 2nd or 10th! LOL

The Thompson Centre R55 with CCI standard will shoot slightly less than 1" at 100 yards. Semi auto and ready to go right out of the box. I have a 4.5-18x Falcon scope on it. Works decently.

This is the most cost effective set up for semi auto 100 yard plinking. I have no idea what it does with match ammo. I'm happy with the CCI and the cost is much less than the match ammo.

I can get close to that with my Savage MK II FV heavy barrel. On a good day I can. On a bad day I can expect golf ball sized. I couldn't be happier with a gun I paid $100 for and another $100 for the scope.

THe only semi that will hit those paintballs at that distance nine out of 10 times is a Thompson Center heavy barrel r-55, it will, but you must be one heck of a shooter, the gun can do it. Nothing else will come close, unless you change calibres, savage 308 10fp for around 700 will do it all day long, any savage bolt in pretty much any calibre shout do it.

I line up my .22 casings and shoot them at 100m. Offhand. With my cooey. Drunk. Sometimes while I sleep.

I find a few of these claims unlikely, or I suck. One or the other. I'm happy with 2 moa with a .22. I have a jw25 (the mauser rinco .22, that's what it's called isn't it?) with a bushnell that I shoot tennis balls at 200m, but not every time. It takes serious concentration, good conditions and a little luck. The neat thing, is that when the sunlight is just right, you can see the little golden bb arc on to the target. Super cool.

I am not saying that I am going to be able to shoot that well.......but I would like a .22 with the "potential" to do that.......the limiting factor is always going to be the shooter, but I want something that is mechanically going to be able to shoot paintballs at 100 yards!

All .22s are able to shoot 100 yards "mechanically"....the rest (aim, ammo) is the shooters choice. My old $200 Mossy 144 is going to give it a go soon, as well my $100 Marlin 81 and Marlin 990l semi ( free). Does not take big dollars to have fun and enjoy.

I wish I could hit paintballs at 100yds all the time!

We take turns (count the rounds...lol) shooting paintballs on snow. Very nice response/reaction when you get one! I've yet to get one on the first shot...my girlfriend has!

This will probably become my favorite thing to do at the range in the winter, as a matter of fact I'm sure it will.

CGN'rs have all the good ideas.
