Painted my dads browning

It sounds like you yourself don't like to paint a nice stocker hunting rifles. Poo poo happens and also rolls down hill but that's anther story or problem of life. If it were me I would have probably done the same thing. I don't know anything about blueing or how to do it, and be 110% sure it would turn out nice. I've sanded and painted plenty of things though. I feel this is the exact route I would have gone.maybe a creaote from ab tac or something. I've seen my nieghbor do some shrink wraps and they look alight too. Maybe I'd have tried painting and if I did not like it wrap it, I dunno. I like it it seems to me it's a hunting rifle not a safe queen anyways. We all know bumps scratches cracks and dings happen when you use stuff. It's really not a matter of how but when it happens its inevitable. Good job next time take before after and during like those home or people make over shows lol. Thumbs up

Looks great. You did it out of love and respect for your father....... so it would look fine with any pattern. You are lucky to still have your dad to hunt with and he is lucky to have a devoted son.

Good job, I've given a few worthless guns the camo treatment, at least you know it's never going to rust again. Toss some brush on to and give it a spritz of dark earth. It will add some contrast. Here are a few I've done. Top one was with grass, second with fern leaves and the third one was cedar masking.

IMO looks fine to me but I also like to do my own thing. Original looks nice but you work with what you have. If people didn't play around Model T's would still have their bicycle tires and 4 cyl engines, there would be no chopped and channeled street rods :)

Thanks for the kind words.

I don't think some of you appreciate how badly it was rusted. The blueing was coming off in chunks just by wiping your hand across it. I considered painting it a cheaper alternative than a reblue especially consider it isn't my rifle and it does not see much use.

Also it was completely taken apart, sanded, primed, base coat THEN assemebled and painted for final accents.

sorry for laughing in my previous post , i had pictured in my mind a complete rifle hanging there getting painted and having my son doing it without my knowledge. kinda like look dad i painted the car with this house paint! :)

I'm actually looking for an A-bolt in 22-250 in the same exact shape prior to the camo treatment.

I would have went with a nice Cerakote job on the metal and rework the stock.

Oh well, not my gun I guess.
