Hi all
I'm going to sand down the raised grain of my Norinco, and refinish it with some BLO, but I was wondering if anyone has tried painting the stock as opposed to refinishing it and what the results were? (I was thinking OD green would look nice...)

Many thanks!

gnmonty, does that coating give good scuff protection? I can run my thumbnail along mine and leave a mark....paintable?
john@, thanks for the reply, but CGN won't let me view any of that posted link for some reason.....?

1)degrease the stock using break cleaner - try not to get any in the unfinished areas as it opens the grain.
2) use krylon from canukistan wheel - available in a couple of camo colours. use really light coats and a lot of them
3) shoot lots to bake the finish on
I've done a few with this paint and it works great and is cheap. no sticky feel after a few days

cheers
