Well I am nearly finished painting the stock of my rifle (4 out of 6 coats done)

I am also painting my rings too the same colour, just doing it with careful taping.

Now I am also thinking about painting my scope.

I don't want to paint the whole thing (not the turret caps or the eye ends)

It is a tasco super sniper, so it has the chunky part from the parallax adjustment up to the eyepiece. I do not plan on painting that part.

What would be the best way to do this? I do not want to gum up the parallax knob and It would probably be best to paint it by simply standing it on the eye end and cover each end with my scope caps correct?

for the scope caps I'll just remove them and tape off the area under where they sit.

Will simple painters tape work? Thats what I have been using for the other things.

I have the appropriate paint I think, which I have been using on the rings, Krylon camo spray paint (have been using the fusion variety for the stock, and the regular variety for the rings and probably the scope.

Just cover the parts you don't want painted, sand the rest a bit and spray. It might need to be primed first. Remember that the purpose of cammouflage is to change the shape of the object. It won't take much painting on a scope. Try and avoid straight lines.

I'm not doing any camo designs, just changing the colour to olive drab.

I now have everything taped off and I will then sand it a bit I guess.

I'll probably do about 3-5 coats just to make it more scratch resistant

throw a layer of matte clear coat on top and that will help protect against the scratches and there is no glare. It has given the illusion of deep looking paint.

I'll look into that Gunpro.. I just don't want any shine though, would a lightly sanded matte clearcoat take away any shine that a clear coat would produce?

Got a nice chuckle from your locale.. You live in MY town lol.
