Hi There,

I have rem. 870 Express with three different barrels. I want be able to swap out for a mossy oak stock set when hunting and have my black stocks just in case. Also, I want to paint my hunting barrel a camo color. I have read through the threads but didn't come across a coherent step by step on what to do to paint the barrel.

Can someone tell me where I need to start, what tools I need to start, and who I need to contact, in the event I can't do a step in the process?

I'd like to do it myself. So advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I did my smith and wesson by myself, its been over a year and it still looks good.... What I did may not be right, but here goes, lightly sand my barrel (super fine sand paper) to remove any rust spots and oils, wiped it all down..... first coat was black, (the black spray paint that I used was for high heat, bbq repair stuff paint)... then I just used added different colours of camo paint and I think it looks pretty good for a first job....

This is the type of camo paint I used...
Hunter's Specialties Camo® Spray Paint Kit Item:XJ-227729 (Cabela's US)

as I said I may have not done it properly but its been over a year and all is intact...

Here is a pic....

Thanks, for the reply.

I've heard of people saying you should bead blast the metal first, then remove oils and then paint. I was wondering how much is it to bead blast and can I do that myself? or is sanding it equivalent? The barrels and shotgun are brand new so I wouldn't have any rust.

Fratri, do you have any pics close up to the receiver and barrel. It looks good.
