Painting a synthetic stock?

About 6-8 weeks ago when was was blowing them flamo Wby vanguards out for $399.00 an ingenious forum member did just that, he stripped the stock down from the flamed antler job and went so far as to find a base coat primer that (etched) into the synthetic/plastic stock.
Made for a good start...and wouldn't react adversely to the stock material and the krypton finish coat.
Go search back(op) on the easily to find thread on the deal that was had, read through it and you will find some good advice...with pictures even.

You don't need primer with Krylon... I have done dozens of stocks. Do multiple thin coats with at least an hour cure time between and then use three coats of Krylon UV Clear Matte to seal it. Done.

Your correct HC, I knew it was a two part paint process.
The guy used krypton tan and a black paint from Michaels that did the spider webbing.
The guys CGN name is MarkJnk, his post with pics was on Oct.1, pg 06 and post number 294.
I have not learned to clip and paste on the iPad things so this is the best I can muster for now.

Another Krylon vote. I picked up a Garand with a synthetic Ramline stock in beige/tan. Light scuffing with a scotchbrite pad, wipe down with degreaser/dewaxer (Crappy tire) then followed by 3 light coats of krylon flat black. Turned out well and very resistant to normal range abuse.
 
asked my wife to paint my M14 for me.
picked her up some Kryon and told her i wanted a winter field pattern then i topped it off with a flat clear coat.

i think it took her all of 5 minutes total.
1 minute, hour wait to cure, 1 minute, hour wait to cure, rinse, repeat.

This advice is great... except I prefer Aerveo WW2 OD Green. Killer color.

Painted my S1 Vanguard with Rust-oleum multi-color textured spray bomb. Roughed up the plastic with sandpaper first. Gives a nice grippy feel.
 
Nice looking paint jobs!
This is giving me some inspiration to take on my Weatherby Vanguard 2 Flamer stock.........
