Painting my shotgun

Don't cheap out. Pick up some Duracoat, or similar product; Armacoat. Not only will your gun look great it'll be protected as well. You don't need an expensive spraygun with compressor. I bought a spraygun that takes cans of compressed air. I painted pretty much all parts on my 870, including the bolt.

Will the paint be bothered by the heat of the barrel? I usually get the barrel pretty hot, it typically changes colors, just with the factory finish, would that also happen with a painted barrel?

I didn't have that problem. Mind you I didn't shoot to the point you do. Call them up to be sure but these products are quite durable.

I painted mine with Krylon Camo Spray Paint....................The barrel was base coated with 650 degree exhaust paint, and the camo done over that................

Surface prep is the most important step.........make sure there is no grease or oil residue on any of the parts to be painted..........

They only pic I could find of mine.......

AR CADPAT......

Im interested in putting some aftermarket parts on my 870, more specifically an AR adapter with a Magpul MOE telescoping stock.

I was thinking that it would look pretty sweet if I put on the foilage green pistol grip/stock with a matching forend but it loos like Ill need to paint that.

So my question is how would you paint a Hogue overmolded (semi flexable) grip? I might als want to put on/paint a recoil pad. Is it possible?

krylon makes spray paint for plastic called fusion, I haven't tried it though.

I used krylon and high heat header paint. every canadian tire and most home hardware has it. If it gets a scuff just touch it up and good as new.
