I paint mine assembled. I at one time had a lot of heartburn about painting the barrel but I got over it.

Here's a pic of the coyote gun.

Better long distance service than AT&T:D

did you use my Video to help you out with this?, if so I'm happy it helped, your rifle is starting to look really good.

Oooo nice units fellas! And ya i did, did as much prep as i could, very informative for sure. Only thing that i kinda messed up on is i had to spray in my garage and its cold out there so when i brought it in to dry, i scuffed a little on the grip damn itttttttt lol

Well its been bakin in the sun and noticed some chips....(insert swears)....dont think the primer i used likes the plastic of the stock cause i can chip it off with my thumb nail, sonnnnnn offfff aaaaaa......Also it was wicked right up until I put the clear on??? Wut the frigg

Clear? What did you paint, mall camo? (still a shame it went south)
What did you use for primer? Did you degrease it REAL good before painting?
Trick for painting in cool temp.'s Make sure the piece is really warm and so is the paint. RUN to your painting area, paint it and get it back into the warm area as fast as you can. Let each color dry really well before applying the next color. Try to keep your greasy fingers off the paint until you are done.
For now, clean the paint off with a solvent that won't react with you rifle parts. If it will pick off, pick away. Wipe it down and try again. Welcome to the learning curve.
Don't sweat it brother! It can all be fixed. pip pip cheery o and all that crap, carry on!
What kind of paint are you using by the way?
P.S. give the clear coat to your girlfriend to use on some sort of art project. Camo does not shine!

I cleaned it up super good, the barrel and action took the paint real good, just the stock sides didnt. And used a good primer i used to paint some other stuff and it worked awesome. Also for the clear i used a satin finish so it wasn't too shiny. And usin the krylon camo colors like everyone else is using

Just the sides of the stock? Weird!
I took contact cleaner to mine prior to painting. It isn't suppose to leave any residue on electrical parts sooooo......
I used paint that I found at a local army surplus store for the green and brown. I wanted a little bit of tan to go in the mix and used the krylon. Didn't like it any where near as much as the other stuff. BLP Mobile Paints (just went and checked) with Motormaster auto body primer. Did it two years ago and it is holding up rather nicely. I did cheat a bit and left the wrist area of the stock mostly factory black. Still happy with the BLP paint.
(matt clear is not flat, it is just less shiny that regular clear)

Ya it didnt stick at all, scraper took it off like nothin, it is a cheapish feeling plastic so that could be the issue....

As can be seen in my pictures, I practiced on my spotting scope first. (I too had issues painting the gun) I used green masking tape to make my shapes. I sprayed the primer than the green. Adjusted my pattern and did the brown. The paint went on smooth with no issues. It dried pretty fast. I had a little bit of bleed through with the tape but really, not bad. Very minor. I had the confidence to do the rifle and scope after that. It turned out pretty good in my opinion. THAN I thought that I would add a little tan. The surplus store did not have tan so I bought the krylon to just add some accents so to speak. I had more bleed through with that little bit of tan than the whole rifle and scope combined. Maybe the two paints did not like each other. Oh well. She stays as she is!
