Thought I'd share some pics of a couple of projects that are finally kinda nearing completion.

First is a Savage 10 FCP that has been rebarrelled with a Shilen .260AI tube and stocked in one of ATRS' new AICS stocks. Glass is a Sightron SIII 6-24x50 LRMD in Burris rings on a Farrell 20MOA base. Glass and barrel courtesy of Mysticplayer.

Second is a Savage 10 PC in .308 for now. Stock has had a Decelerator installed, mostly to increase LOP. Glass is a Bushnell 6500 2.5-16x42 MD in Burris rings with 20MOA inserts on Warne Maxima bases. Mag is from SharpShooterSupply. Thinking of rebarrelling in 6.5 Creedmoor.

Looks good, now I want a AICS for my savage instead of my HS Precision! There are waay too many options with these savages and are waay too user friendly. Im not convinced I am saveing any money I am just spending it on other things instead of gunsmithing bills. How does the AICS accomodate both the 2nd generation and the 3rd generation actions with the different screw spacing? I would be curious to see how Rick accomplished that.

Nice Work RHS!!

Hmmm, don't know about the different screw spacing. You'll have to ask Rick. I have the HS stock that originally came with the rifle. Works great off a bench, but I could never get comfortable with it prone. So far I like the AICS. Only negative is that the trigger sits in the middle of the trigger-guard, which makes it a bit cozy with gloves on. I don't have fat fingers and only wear a light glove on my trigger hand, so it's not a problem for me.

They both look great. Not sure how many rounds you have put through that fantastic looking stock from Albert's Tactical. But a full range report would be neat. Do they require any bedding?

ATRS recommends bedding. So far, I haven't had a chance to get it done. Have only got around to forming 20 brass so far, and been out with it twice for a grand total of 20 rounds downrange. First 10 were spent getting everything zero'd at 50 and then 100, and then shot a 5-rd group which went into .390" from a crappy bench that wobbled noticeably. Didn't clean the rifle  (I know....#### loss will result !!!) and shot the remaining 5 a week later from a proper bench, but with a breezy 20km crosswind into .350". I didn't bother waiting out the wind much, and the group went right where I'd left it zero'd from the previous outing, so I'm happy that everything holds zero. Bedding will likely be an issue if I remove/replace the barreled action, since there is room to move around the recoil lug.

Brass was virgin R-P .260 that I didn't really put much effort into sorting or prepping. Used Jerry's method of 7g of Titegroup under a case of cornmeal, topped with a bit of paper towel, to intially fireform. Cases came out about 95% using this method, which is great. Resized with a Lee Collet die, primed with CCI BR primers, loaded 48g of H4831SC, topped with a 139g Scenar at 2.840" OAL, and went shooting. The rifle actually has a throat that accomodates a 2.900 OAL for that bullet, but the AI mag won't let me go more than 2.840. Not thrilled about that much jump, but will see where load development takes things. I haven't even trimmed that brass yet, figuring I would wait until I have fired 1 real round (as opposed to the cornmeal) though each of 100 cases and pick the best ones out of that lot and do a proper prep on them.

Used the last of my stash of HSM 175g match to shoot the following out of the Precision Carbine. Seems to be about par for what that load will do out of a factory Savage barrel. Pretty much the same group size that I was getting with the 10FCP before I changed barrels to .260AI. Guess I will have to start loading for it now.

The forward action screw hole is elongated so that either the 4.25" or 4.4" spacings will work with no hassle ;)

BTW RHS, sweet .260, looks a lot like mine! :D

I see from the targets you were at Stittesville. Maybe I will run into you there sometime. I would love to check out one of those stocks first hand.

Anyway it looks very promising. Good luck.

Thanks for the kind words. I switch between Stittsville and Smiths Falls. Can't afford to shoot at Stittsville too often with their prices !!!
