I have looked around and all i can find is weekend courses usually saturday/sunday and usually theres a month to two month wait for a course. Is there other courses i am not aware of that run during the week, or is it possible to get private course from an instructor?
My work schedule eats up every weekend... :bangHead:

Its probably safe to say that you won't find someone willing to do a private course. Generally speaking most of the instructors prefer a min of 12 students so that it is worth while for them as they have expenses including renting a facility. However some will take a private class of 5 if you arrange others to take it with you and provide a place for it to be held.
Best of luck.

If you can get a group of friends together all willing to do it most instructors should be willing to do it. As twistedbrilliance said you will most likely need to supply the hosting location (someone's house is usually fine). However, instructors will probably not be interested in teaching a private course this time of year as they are generally able to fill classes with aspiring hunters.

If you are desperate to get your PAL I suggest challenging it, the test is simple enough if you've read through the manual and have some prior firearms experience.

"...My work schedule eats up every weekend..." Horrible thing having to work on weekends. Interferes with everything. Mind you, being able to eat and live inside is important too.
I'd bet that you're not the only interested guy who works on weekends either. I'd also bet that you could organize a week night course without too much fuss. Do the PAL and RPAL at the same time.
Go here and make a few calls. Like Manzin says, getting some buddies together will help. http://www.fsesoi.org/
Note that the manuals are there in .pdf format.
Where in TO? In TO, shooting handguns is easier than long guns. You'll have to join a shooting club anyway. There are no public ranges in Ontario.
"...is it possible to get private course from an instructor?..." Yep, but it won't be cheap. Most instructors aren't doing courses for a living either.
"...suggest challenging it..." Only applies to experienced shooters. It's not the written test that is the issue.

You don't need to take a course; just challenge the exams. The only background I had was shooting single shot 0.22s many years ago. I signed up to gunexams.com about two weeks in advance and also downloaded the government books. I got perfect scores on all the tests. I'm not a genius; it ain't rocket science.

Ditto. I taught the course from day one until 2001, and recommended most students get the course manual ($12 at the time) and read it cover to cover. If they made it through the book and felt they couldn't get 80% on both exams, then they should take the course.

As long as you know how to read, you'll do fine challenging the exams. Read the manual(s) from cover to cover, it will explain the operation of every gun you'll encounter during the examination period. It's available online in PDF form. I'd also recommend watching the training videos provided by the CFSC website.

The hardest part of the entire examination was coloring in the ENTIRE box for the answers. Guy next to me must have been better at coloring, as he finished first.

When I started teaching courses I figured that I would sometimes do weekday evening courses at my place. I found it was impossible to get a group of eight students (my minimum #) together for the same series of evenings.

Every so often I have someone contact me saying they have a large group (5-8) who want a course scheduled. Only once in ten years have I had the organizer come through with more than three students (and that was a group that needed the CFSC for employment).
