Hi,

I'm a foreign student at a university in BC. Recently, a friend of mine at the college who already has an RPAL suggested me get a PAL (or an RPAL) so that I can enjoy target shooting myself.

But, is it really possible for a foreign student like me to get a PAL? I have my own SIN and PHN (Personal Health Number), and I'll continue residing in BC for at least three more years.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, there is no citizenship or residence requirement to hold a firearms license. There are more than a few Americans with PALs who only ever come up here as visitors.

Also, welcome to Canada. I hope you are enjoying your stay here.

I don't think there you will be denied of your application just because you are a foreign student. Assuming that you have not yet received your residency status yet, you will need a letter from your local police stating that you have not been convicted of any criminal act.
