Thanks Calalta.
You’re absolutely right about the process. I do not see the point in asking people about another person’s intentions. Who are they to know or speculate? I do see the need for a process to regulate it, there's no doubt in my mind about that, for the safety of our communities. I just don’t see the benefit of this references part.
The only thing that people, outside of the firearm community, hear is when someone or something negative happens that involves a firearm or what they see in the movies. Not only that but people who are firearm ignorant probably think that defense might be a suitable answer as they have no knowledge and speculate based on how other countries like the United States use firearms. It confuses people.
It’s really too bad that more people don’t see all the happy people at the range. If they saw everyone having good, old, safe fun shooting clays/ targets then maybe they would open their minds and realize that there is a positive side to firearms too. I just wish that I had shown them and not just expected them to understand.
Just look at all the people engaging in good, old, and safe fun that encourages you to be outside, socializing and exercising. In my opinion some of the most positive experiences you could have...and who would have thought that this could all come from firearms.
