Hey Guys,

Pretty new here and pretty new too shooting as well. The CFC have just received my PAL application and it's in the system.

My question is, what kind of questions the CFC asks you when they call during the processing of your PAL?

I figure it's a pretty strait forward and short interview but just wondering what they might ask.

Thanks in advance,

Marcus

Past violence, suicidal tendencies, bankruptcy, relationship breakdowns, criminal charges etc... very straight forward. Answer in one word if poss- don't elaborate unless asked.. Yes/no will suffice. They are just reading off a sheet and checking boxes- just going through the motions. Good luck and you'll be shooting in no time.

Depends on who you get calling .. I have been called several times as I often am requested to be a reference. Some interviewers are of the ilk where they say "Tell me of a time when you saw ### violent." Tell me of a time .. etc etc", very leading questions. Some calls are "Can you think of a time when ###x was violent." etc etc. No real surprise questions in any event, they are just trying to find out if you have a short fuse and/or an alcohol or drug problem. They already know if you have criminal charges as you're dealinig with the RCMP, and if you do, you may be called in for an interview.

Good info TPK.

I should probably make a new thread for this but does anyone know the criteria for them to give you an interview in the first place.

I've read around that some people just get their license right away and some have all their references called. Seems like its pretty random to me... perhaps they don't like the looks of you in your picture :D

I think if you apply for an RPAL they do mandatory phone interviews and reference checks. I just applied for my PAL and had no phone calls to any of my references or myself

No calls were ever made to me or any of my references and had the card in my wallet 35 days after sending the application. But as you are in BANTARIO expect a very different treatment. -sad-

When I applied for my PAL two years ago, they called my references and I.

A year later I applied for my restricted upgrade, they called my references and I again.

It shouldn't be a problem if they phone, questions are quite basic.

When applying for my RPAL they asked why I am interested in restricted firearms, which I replied that I am interested in target shooting. (Dont say for self defence!)

Same here, they asked why I wanted an RPAL and I said I'd enjoyed shooting non PAL rated air pistols and thought I would join a club and try the real thing out for. And from what I was told by an interviewer, an RPAL automatically gets all your references called. That's what I was told, that's all I'm saying.

My application was received Jan 12th and I am waiting as fast as I can. 9 more days and it will be at the 45 day period. :(

Well, I had my phone interview yesterday and they told me I could tell my references to just call in. Surprisingly, they didn't need to speak to my girlfriend who is on my app as my conjugal partner. I just assumed they'd want to speak to her so I got her to call in but the lady on the phone said there was no need to speak to her. I would have thought if there was anyone they'd want to speak to, it'd be the person I'm living with right?

Did they call any of your guys' wife/partners?
