Hi,

I've been haning around the forums for a while reading the different articles and information and such. I finally got motivated and took my firearms courses plus the Hunter Education course. I passed them all, and am in the process of filling them in. Unfortunately in the recent past I declared bankruptcy so I answered yes to that question. Im just wondering if having declared bankruptcy will cause my apps to be denied? Also if it's denied does this mean I wont qualify ever again?

I doubt you'll be denied. They may want more information from you, such as why you went bankrupt.

Was it because you're financially irresponsible and just ran up your debt, or did your Ex-Wife take you for everything you were worth after she left you for another man?

They won't worry if you just can't balance a budget, but red flags may go up if (in their eyes) you have someone to blame for your financial woes.

Hope all goes well!

If the bankruptcy is recent they may do some extra background checking on you. The reason for this is that declaring bankruptcy can be a difficult time emotionally for people. The CFC try to ensure that you are emotionally stable before they issue a license. It's 95% BS, but what can you do.
