Hi all, im new here. I just sent in my application last monday for my PAL and RPAL. It hasn't showed up online yet.

when filling out my application I checked my postal code on google maps. It showed it as V5N 4A1. after i sent it in and speaking to canada post they actually said my postal code is V5N 4A2. do you think this matters at all? I mean all my mail comes to my address and i have been giving out my postal code as V5N 4A1 for a while now (including my drivers license).

If it matters will I be able to call them and make this minor change over the phone when it shows up online? or am i gonna have to wait for them to mail me a new form and stuff? :(

Thanks.

Last monday? HA!

You will need to learn to lessen your expectations regarding the CFC.

Your postal code mixup may play a role when your application is actually treated, but you have plenty of time to call them and clear things out. Actually, calling them very well may speed things up as it takes your file out of the pile.

Worst case is you have to fill the form and send it again. You don't need to have it mailed to you, you can print it from here.

uh so basically you're saying i have to send my application form in again once it shows up online?

No, I'm saying you should give them a call to explain the situation(before or after it show up online, doesn't matter) and the worst thing that can happen is they make you send in a new form. Which you can get from the place I mentionned.

What will probably happen is they will note your correct postal code and that will be it.

Best to have sent it with registered mail if your the impatient/worried type. Mines been sitting in a post office for 2 days now :(. HURRY UP CanPost!!!

I sent my application in before it got busy with hunting season and the LGR debate (seems to have spurred some new shooters). It took 11 days AFTER confirmed delivery to see it online. Since then they've fallen behind but I'd expect to see it this coming week. You can't do anything until it does come online and Yes, it will show online even with your postal code error. It may show as "...you have or will be contacted for additional information..." instead of the normal "Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress.".

Once you see it online, you can call in and correct your postal code mistake over the phone. I used my credit card to pay for the application, and I've tied the credit card to my phone. Whenever a charge is made, I get an email within seconds. You may have the same option. I was charged and the application was online within 3 hours.

My best suggestion is to be patient. I've found the CFC slow, but the ladies very If you want to get to practicing, buy yourself a pellet gun & practice safe handling techniques.

How do you get confirmation of delivery? I sent mine in just standard Canada Post on Friday. Yes I realize it wouldn't be gone yet but I'm wondering what the confirmation of delivery is

You can't get confirmation of delivery unless you send express post or registered.

I wouldn't worry about it. It will take up to two weeks for it to show on the website and it will give a date of received just a few days after you sent it.

I am sure it will work out. :)

Oh, PS, check the "Shorten PAL approval time" thread at the top of this forum.

Ok. Max of 3 months until I get my PAL sound about right?

Im new here so i am pretty sure this is right, but it seems to vary greatly from province to province. Where are you?

In BC here it took less than a month from time of reception to be approved for RPAL.

In other places it takes longer. It appears to be a function of how the local CFO treats applications.

Hmmm, I am quite new and unfamiliar with the usual wait time in Alberta. I have seen a few people complaining in the "Shorten PAL approval time" thread that their application has taken a while. If you go to that thread and describe your situation I am sure you will get answers.

You can look over the recent history of that thread to, it will give you an idea of how long is normal.

Say you are from Albera, if its PAL or RPAL, etc.

People here have been very helpful for me.

Mine was 11 days after it arrived. Ontario.

There is no guaranteed max time, but to get your license as quickly as possible you should follow the "Shorten PAL approval time" thread tips.

From first step into the classroom to license in hand for me was about 10 weeks. I can post my timeline if you want. I did NOT send off my application without my CFO-stamped papers, which would have saved me about 2 weeks.
