Big win! Hope it comes in the mail fast!

New to the site, took pal/rpal in the summer sent everything in October, credit card charged early Feb. No boxes checked, no criminal record and I called today into the CFO....it is waiting to be assigned to someone and I asked rough time frame as I was looking forward to spring hunting and they indicated typically 4-5 months if I am lucky. No idea how others on here got theirs quick no idea why the lady on the phone said that long.... ugh!

I'm in the same boat. CC charged Jan26 and has had zero movement. Called in a few times and they don't tell you jack ####. Frustrating seeing there are two standards as some people on here have been approved 2 days after CC was charged. You would think there should be one standard that applies to everyone. Apparently not.

What will the charge on CC look like? (Gov. of Canada?, RCMP?)

Yup, it sucks. Going to just try to put it out of my mind. Guys are getting approved who are a month behind us timeline wise.

What province are you in?

Located in Ontario. I am not sure if it is because of rpal too but this sucks....I get waiting a bit due to covid but this is kinda ridiculous. They should automate the system and if flags show up then investigate but to wait almost a year lets save tax dollars here and streamline it.

Wow brutal..... wonder why to be assigned to someone? And why so long? Thats the point fonthe waiting period is for them to do their job...

So my application is at my provinces CFO is this the last step of my application? My references haven’t been called new application

They indicated that once assigned thats when they do the background checks and ensure everything is accurate. I would love to see stats on how many are reviewed a day. I totally get it if something comes up when doing the background but to wait months for someone to just start the process is well to be blunt a waste of tax payers money. Automate the process and when flags appear then investigate. I bet in 99% they are fine.

I am 100% in agreement. Good people trying to follow the rules with no previous convictions or boxes checked taking this long is insane, especially when other are approved in 2 days. Seems there is a double standard which seems extremely unfair for some applicants. Never has a background check taken this long for me to obtain... something seems off.

Maybe its not fitting for this thread but 2 things right now that wont happen are saving tax dollars and making things easier for gun owners. Wont happen.
