PAL Wait Time

Paperwork received on Sept 14 (sent it tracked with a signature so I even know who received it...) - appeared on the website a few days later - CC charged a few days later; shows as issued and in the mail to me on Oct.12 - exactly 28 days after they received it. RPAL - one reference contacted. I was very particular to make sure everything was filled out correctly and everything they asked for was included (waited until I got my course results from the Ontario CFO before I mailed it so it was all in the envelope with the application...).

They haven't started processing that batch of applications yet. Looks like I'm going to be looking at 50+ days and not the 28 day minimum.

Bye-bye whitetail season for me!

I checked online this morning, and now it shows as having been received on October 3. My brain is ready to explode trying to figure out how it couldn't have been received two days ago, but now it was received 11 days ago. Ah well, I'm happy that at least I'm in the system now.

Hello fellow members, my name is Herb and I am new to this forum :)
I do have a question for you.
I called RCMP today and they told me they have completed my application ( mailed Sept 8, card was charged Sept 30.)
They also told me that they have submitted my files to the CFO for approval.

Do any of you know how long this process usually takes before CFO approves and mail my card? I live in Quebec.
For some reason , the website says they don't have my information, hence I called them after reading some people here have their results pretty fast.

cheers!
Herb

They received my pal and rpal application on July 22nd, I've called at least 6 or 7 times and they keep saying to call back in a month. Last time I called, a lady told me she would send a reminder to the CFO to check my application but he still has not yet. I'm getting pretty pissed. In BC btw

oh wow, that is taking a while. I was hoping I will get an answer back within couple weeks( total 45 days.)
And there is no way for me to contact the CFO directly? I remember in the Safety Course book there is a number to call.

Just use Google to search for the CFO direct number or for the extension, I can get through to the bc cfo office everytime I call but never someone who is high enough to approve it over the phone :/ kinda irritated that she said she sent a reminder to the CFO and he never acted on it lol

Mine took 8 months of calling once a week.

oh wow, that was a long waiting time!

I called them again this morning( the phone number from the CRFSC book is the same number that I called,) and she told me my application has been with CFO for a few weeks now. And nothing else I could do but to wait unfortunately.

"A few more weeks" all she could told me.

Mine seems to have been issued on Day 28 or 29 of my application being received. I'm kinda questioning if an RCMP background check I had done for work recently helped speed things along, only 1 reference was called.

This was my initial application for an rpal.

When your 45 days is up, email your Member of Parliament and tell them you have not received your PAL after the 45 standard service date. If he/ she is a Conservative, he/ she will definitely help you. A liberal/ ndp, maybe.

Hopefully mine will be coming in the mail today, I sent in my first time pal/rpal application in the first week of July, it was received July 20th and finally issued last week. If it comes today it will be 92 days since it was received. Strange thing is my brother applied at the same time as me (actually used the same envelope), we used the same reference who was called for both applications within 10 minutes of each other, but he actually relieved his pal in the mail at the 45 day mark. weird stuff.

My PAL/RPAL was issued exactly 28 days after it was received in Miramichi. It appeared as Processing on the website 12 days after they received the application.
At that point I had one of my References call in to them with the application number and he did the interview then.
Now I will see how Canada Post does from there to BC.
