PAL Wait Time

Day 39 now for me.
12 days since I faxed in my test results. Called just now, was told my fax still hasn't been processed since August 31st and not to bother sending it again..
Must be totally random when they decide to grab a pile from the fax machine. One guy had his processed in 4 days just a week ago, but here I am.. day 12 with my fax just sitting in a pile somewhere.

I really hope this lady today was right in telling me not to send another fax. I worry it got misplaced or something... oh well I guess.

Ontario PAL

Now to wait for the mail!

Call them tomorrow morning and ask for your PAL number. You can order a gun and get a restricted transfer going before your card arrives. :)
You don't need the physical card to order a gun, just your PAL number.

Congratulations my friend!
Still very sad and salty that my test results have been sitting on their fax machine for 12 days... lol. :(

Starting get frustrated too called today and they just said still working... I obviously want wouldnt be calling if it was done, but I digress. My photo is waiting to be scanned still... can you call the CFO for your province direct to see if they got it?

That's the plan, I've waited enough that I'm itching to get an online order started. At least the wait gave me lots of time to window shop.
Hopefully you will see progress soon!

Congrats my friend! Hoping they check their fax machine in the next few weeks so I can get mine going again! It's become evident to me that they just check it every month or so.. :(

Carl is awesome btw. If it's the same one I talked to. Got him my first call, but been getting pretty moody ladies ever since.. never want to give me any insight and are very short and blunt with me.

Carl was by far the most helpful person I have talked to. He actually left his desk to check up on my application instead of just giving me the standard still in progress call later.

Hopefully soon MoMoney. Mine for sure skipped the CFO though, it went from photo being scanned to approved in one day.

They received everything from me before you even took your course, and I'm still waiting :( "Completed initial processing"

If they'll actually answer!
Tuesday I have 27 calls on my phone from me trying to call, just to get hung up on because there's too many callers.
Yesterday I was on hold for 17 minutes before getting through and had a lady be super short with me that would hardly give me the time of day.. despite having been told to call in that day.

Today I'm up to 11 calls and haven't been able to get through yet, haha.. might just wait until tomorrow.

It’s too bad you are in Ontario. You can only call on from 9-5 in your area, so I always waited to call in after Ontario phone lines closed. I was on hold for 20 minutes today before getting through and had to call about 20 times yesterday just to get on hold.

Got through, and got some answers.. or maybe an excuse, I don't know.

Apparently when you fax or mail something that's supposed to be added to your file, it goes to processing and is processed by date received. They're currently processing submissions from the "3rd week of August" and can sometimes get through multiple days per day.

My fax was sent August 31st, so I was told to call back next Friday if I haven't heard anything by then.

I'd accept this answer, but 2 weeks ago I was told to call in on the 7th, and on the 7th I was told to call in at 9:00am on the 10th, and on the 10th I was told to call back later this week.. and now this week I'm told to call back on the 21st. If they are indeed 3 weeks behind, I'm not sure why the other 3 people I spoke to were under the impression I'd be processed much sooner.

Also, someone who had submitted their fax on August 24th had theirs processed and their application approved on August 30th.. so I feel like there's a little more to this. Oh well. All I can do is twiddle my thumbs until next week.

EDIT: Yeah, I just searched "fax" on this thread and the other PAL update threads. Tons of peoples had been processed and/or approved within 2-5 days after faxing their stamps in. I can't find even one reference of it taking more than 2 weeks for them to process something that was faxed in.

Either this lady just gave me an excuse (she didn't ask for my name or any other info, wasn't interested in checking my case) or they recently changed their process around this.

Interestingly enough my wife, who obviously shares my address, and who took the same course as me at the same place, with similar scores and who submitted the same day as me has not been approved yet.

EDIT

My wife was approved hours after me. Does anyone know when licenses are mailed? Is it everyday or just once a week?

Completed CFSC, and CFRSC May 9th, 2018
Received stamped test results June 6th, 2018
Application arrived in Miramichi June 8th, 2018
Appeared Online July 18, 2018 with a message some information was missing.
Missing photo was received in Miramichi on July 23, 2018
Photo was processed on August 13th

As of today (August 21, 2018) I was told the file is with the Ontario CFO for final approval, and to give it 30 days. If it's not processed in 30 days to give them a call back.

I gave them a call today to check on the status of the application. Still the same thing I was told it was with the CFO, it hasn't been assigned to an officer yet to review, I guess background checks etc, still need to be completed. The man of the phone told me to check back in 3 weeks. Yikes! I asked about if I could get the extension to reach the Ontario CFO, but they said they would tell the same thing. Needs to be assigned etc. I think my application is in limbo.

After the call I decided to reach out to my MP, just to inquire if there is anything on their end that can be done. Well long behold he mentioned they have contacts within the Ontario CFO, and the CFP, as they've had applications take double, and triple the service sstandards in the past. He took my information, and all of the information associated with my application, and told me to give him a few days, and he will hopefully be able to get this looked after.

This is good news so hopefully I'll have my license soon! :)

I heard they send them all out on Fridays, so you might be in the clear!

Damn. Scary. Today is day 1 for me of being told it's with CFO for final approval. If this is what's in store for me.. oh boy. I guess I'll start setting expectations to receive mine a couple of more months from now, rather than within 40-50 days of applying.
Again I just don't get how we hear from others in Ontario getting approved without it going to the CFO, or within 2-4 days of having it go to the CFO in Ontario. But then we hear cases like yours where it hasn't even been assigned after 30 days of being with the CFO.

Maybe I should get on the phone with my MP next week rather than wait another month.. lol.

If you do contact your MP hopefully they will be able to help you. I read somewhere contacting your MP can be hit or miss. I'm glad I live in a Rural region where firearm use is the norm for hunting, and target practice. So his office was very helpful and willing to assist. I read other members had troubles getting their MP's to do anything. Probably based on what party they represent to be honest with you will determine how helpful the MP office is.
