Wait... an unpaid speeding ticket held up your application?

Why should that have anything to do with getting a firearms licence? last time I checked, speeding tickets were under Motor Vehicle Act and not Criminal.

It was an out of province ticket. The cop wrote it and gave it to me when my DL was expired, but let me drive away. Weird right?
It never turned up on my registration when I renewed year after year, so I assumed it had gotten lost in the wash.
Apparently if you dont pay a ticket, they will issue a warrant. That's where it becomes criminal.
So unknowingly, 6 years later...surprise you've got a warrant out. I turn up to the cop shop, and I pay $300 and walk out.

That held up my Application.

Update: today is day 28 since CFC received my RPAL app. I checked today and its says now: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canadian Firearms Program Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)
28 days from receiving it until approval. I am pretty happy. :D Just feel bad for the many guys still waiting and struggling. Hang in there guys. Its worth it!

im not sure i follow you?, you dropped it off locally, then they did there thing with it, then it was sent east, where it sat in a pile for a few days cause of the thousands of other apps received daily, and when they finally got yours out, they noted the day it was received and entered that(as they do with everyones) , its how its done, it sucks, but hey, the day it shows as received is the start of your 28 day waiting period anyways,

as for up to date, after i called about mine, they approved it(90 days waiting), and i think it took about an hour for the site to update

Lol i don't think we would have the gun laws we have if Miramichi received thousands of firearm licenses applications daily, but i get your point. I was just refering to the fact that from the 14th of july to the 5th or 6th or August before they decide to put it online is ridiculous, when ever the waiting period starts. And i didn't know the waiting period started at the receiving date thanks for the info ;) I just wish they would stop doing everything they can without actually preventing you to have a damn license, to give you a damn license

ya, im just going off what they told me when i started phoning about mine, it gets there and gets put in the box for that day, and then as they work down the line it gets entered from the day it was received, not the day they look at it, , most times its taken the entire waiting period just for it to be entered , but still goes from the original date of receipt, so in the end, thats all that matters...lol

I'd rather say it's based on how much time VS work they have
