PAL Wait Time

How would i get on the phone with the specific officer assigned to my file? I've been transferred to the CFO after calling the main Miramichi line and basically get told the same thing everytime.

Ask for the file #, name and extension of the officer assigned to your file and ask to be transfered. Leave a voice message including the file number your name and contact number. You should get a call back in a few weeks or sooner.

Once you get the call just be honest with whatever happened, if all goes well you'll be approved on the spot and card in hand a few weeks later!

Good luck

You're probably right but i didnt think it would be a good idea to lie, which could possibly be an instant deny if found out.

I get that but that is the fear that they put into you in order to get you to over report. They aren't going to dig up something small like that and even if by some miraculous chance they did you would just plead ignorance and claim it as being thought as non-reportable. Omitting is not the same as telling an outright lie.

I get it man, obviously too late now lol

Albertan here, took my PAL on December 2, 2018. Mailed out my application on December 7 and received my license in the mail on January 31. No references called. I think I got pretty lucky, a co-worker took his PAL and RPAL in the summer and it took about 4 months to get his license in the mail.

Application received December 21st, approved by CFO January 31st, mailed out today. This was a PAL and RPAL at the same time. No references called, 46 days assuming it was in fact mailed out today. Online it showed up as “in progress” and immediately after calling this morning she changed it to issued..

Sooo... in Quebec.
Application received November 23 rd 2018.
Missing info completed December 18th 2018.
Transferred to Quebec CFO January 10th 2019.
Approved February 4th 2019.
Had to call in at every step.
Everybody was super nice, helpfull and polite.
Now on to the real fun!

I forgot to mention, each provincial office has an email address that you can email. They never reply but they will get the email. 8 months is long enough to start spamming them lol

It'll be on the officer to call you back in acceptable time.

Yeah you're right, pretty fed up with their time wasting at this point. How would i find the email of the cfo office though? all i see is mailing address/phone number

In Ontario they state the email address on their voice mail.

Dont see an email for the cfo but i sent an email to one of my MP's and filed a complaint with the Ombudsman, and tomorrow will be sending a letter to the CFO regarding this application. Time to really start poking at them, they're wasting way to much time for no reason. Not that hard to stamp a piece of paper thats been collecting dust on a desk for nearly a year now. Absolutely pathetic useless workers

Curious to hear stories from anyone without canadian citizenship, im a permanent resident been in Canada for 12 years, currently waiting on PAL and citizenship.

My friend just moved here from the UK on a student visa I believe and his pal took around 3 months

My barber is from Syria with permanent residence (he's an awesome dude, so piss off to anyone who stereotypes) and he's had his PAL now for about a year, he said it took around 3 months. He just got his citizenship certificate a few weeks ago as well. He told me he was contacted by the RCMP asking him how long he'd been in the country, a couple more questions I can't remember, but everything went smooth for him.

November 6th - Sent registered mail

November 9th - Delivered to Miramichi

December 5th - Credit Card Charged and able to login to PAL status check "Competed Initial Processing"

December 20th - Called to ask if there was any missing information. Told everything looks good and still in progress, but there's a high workload. Call back if I don't hear anything by the end of January.

January 22nd - Called to check on status, still has not been sent to the Ontario CFO and under "Initial Review"

Feb 1st - License issued.

Feb 11th - License received in mail

RIP Credit card

Current Manitoba timeline:

October 27th - PAL Course/Test

October 30th - Sent course results and picture in

November 8th - Received by Miramichi

December 3rd - Credit Card Charged, at this time I began logging in to check my PAL application status, displayed "Competed Initial Processing"

January 7th - Application status still showing "Competed Initial Processing" so I called in. Was told everything looked good and it was just going to take time for them to work through everything. They said to call back if there was no change in status by the end of January.

February 3rd - Application status still showing "Competed Initial Processing" so I called in again. They said all that was left was to do a background check and send it off to the MB CFO.

It is now February 12th and I'm still waiting to see a change in the application status. Anyone have any tips for anything I can do/say to them to get this moved along? Anyone else from MB experiencing a bit of a delay or is it just me? haha

Call MB cfo, see if they can do background check during the call. My application was sent to bc cfo 2 weeks ago, i waited for a week nothing happened, so i called bc cfo last week. A lady answered the phone, after giving her my information she put me on hold for like 6 mins while she went to do the background check and issued the liscence.
