PAL Wait Time

Here is my time line in Manitoba for first time PAL/RPAL application. No boxes checked and “Letter of Good Conduct” attached from Ukraine as I’ve been in Canada for less than five years.
Jan 07, 2019 - Package received in Miramichi.
Feb 05, 2019 - Credit card charged and it appears online.
Feb 24, 2019 - Progress online was still same as when the credit card been charged, so I called in to check what stage it is on now and been told that it is with Manitoba CFO now. Called Manitoba CFO to check if I can do interview process and background check and very nice lady on the phone put me on hold for couple of minutes to review my info and after that she approved my application and license has been issued right away. No reference or wife been called and MB CFO told me that there’s no mandatory interview and they call it only if they got some questions. By the way if some one is looking for MB CFO phone number it is (204) 984-0715

Thats sweet! Congrats man. Im just waiting for my license to arrive any day in the mail now.

Thanks! Now I am waiting for mine too, hopefully it won’t take long. Still took less time than I was ready to wait after reading some posts here from people who waited for 5-6 moths to get their license issued.

Ladies and gents: We now have our PAL in hand!

Located in Montreal, Quebec

Application received on December 5th.
Appeared in their system on Jan 15th.
Kept checking updates and nothing for a while so gave up and decided to just wait it out.
Received in mailbox on February 26th

I called in 3-4 times and there was nothing the CSR could do or tell me passed what the website said. None of my references we're called

Already bought 700 rounds of target load at Cabelas :)

I'm on the same timeline as you, im just one week later for everything. I also did snail mail :( wish i got tracking and all that to know when they got it.
keep us posted with your progress!

this is a similar timeline to how i received mine. i sent my paperwork to the RCMP on the 6th of dec 2018, i didnt see anything on their website until around the 4th of feb 2019, then within a week my pal was in my mailbox lol. i called once or twice to check if they had my application, maybe that sped the process up but its unlikely.

Can someone help here. We had a domestic issue shortly after I submitted my app, the neighbors called the police, my partner was charged, I was not. My application has been with the CFO for about 7 months now. No documents required, no interview requested. I called and was told because my partner has an outstanding charge on her, the application can`t move forward. I`m just trying to understand why that should impact my application. Thank you for your anticipated insights.

Did you check Yes to any of the boxes on the application?

In any event, I’m sorry to hear that! It might help to speak with the cfo officer in charge of your file to get a better explanation. You can also explain your side of the story as well.

My only rational would be that the officer felt that firearms may endanger you or your partner if any thing happens in the future.

Okay so I called this morning **March 7th, 2019** The lady told me they are opening letters received beginning of February at this current time. So mine should be getting close to top of pile :)

To be honest, we like to say that we have strict laws in place and that the deal shouldn't be altered further. One of those laws is due diligence on issuing a PAL to someone that may want to use a firearm in anger. Even though you were not charged, clearly there was a tense situation with your SO and part of the due diligence is to ensure that situation is settled and everyone is balanced before issuing a PAL. It sucks you're caught up in a situation like this but domestic disputes are not normal, no matter whose fault it is. If you are still living with her, there is even more reason that they don't want to issue a PAL and allow guns in the house. Like I said, it sucks but nobody wants guns in hostile environments.

Okay we have some action today. Here is where I'm currently at in Ontario

Nov 2, 2018 Signed up for CFSC
Jan 5-6, 2019 CFSC taken
Feb 1, 2019 Stamped test results received from province
Feb 2, 2019 PAL application mailed out snail mail
March 11, 2019 Credit Card charged $60, Application listed "in progress" on website.

just dropped the paperwork for my Rpal upgrade in the mail
will update when I have a card in hand, have heard guys getting a card back in little as 5-6 weeks when just upgrading,

Im from Quebec. First time PAL/RPAL applicant, here's what I got

Jan 24. Handed RPAL application to Montreal Police
Feb 8. Application Arrives at Miramichi
Feb 19: Passed Bill 9 training
March 12: Application online, credit card charged

I called today, they said that all documents are in order and they are "scanning my photo" before doing the "eligibility checks". After that they would send it off to Quebec for final approval/investigation (because Quebec Does that)
Any suggestions on how to speed up the notoriously long Quebec CFO process?

I took my safety courses in November 2018. I sent my application off December 10th, no boxes checked, no reason for concern. Online it says my application was received Dec 18. The application is now with the CFO and the message online says initial process done and waiting.... It's now Mar 14, 2019. I called the CFO today and was told my application was sent for background check 2 weeks ago and to wait another 6-8 weeks!! I'm on day 86 since they received it and now they want another 56 days! I don't understand how they say on the update page that it take 45 days,
