PAL Wait Time

You can try and call them to ask for it but they may not give it to you. Some sites do require a scan of the PAL as well though so depending where you are ordering from it may not help anyway.

When I decided last October that I was going to take up hunting, I was worried that maybe I didn't have the patience required to hunt deer. Wow! was I ever underestimating how much patience you need in this sport...

I think by next week I'll have definitely lost my damn mind waiting for this thing. There is no question I'm losing sleep over this and now I am experiencing irritability, anger, worry, agitation, anxiety... I guess I'll have to call the RCMP and tell them I have new revised information about the state of my mental health.

Seriously though. Is this amount of time reasonable? Are we Canadians just too easily ruled. I need an explanation as to why this needs to take this long.

Nov 2, 2018 Signed up for CFSC
Jan 5-6, 2019 CFSC taken
Feb 1, 2019 Stamped test results received from province

Feb 8, 2019 R.C.M.P. claimed to have received my application on this date.
March 11, 2019 Credit Card charged $60, Application listed "in progress" on website.
March 19, 2019 Phoned in and was told application is with CFO
March 21, 2019 Online status now reads "Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canadian Firearms Program Toll Free number."
April 5nd, 2019 or Day 154 still waiting...

Yeah give them a call, keep in mind they only go out on Fridays so if it said license issued on a Monday or late day Friday your licence wasn’t actually shipped till the following Friday. So it could possibly take a week from the first friday after your licence was issued to arrive.

Best of luck finding out where your licence is.

Ontario
I waited for Course paperwork and sent in at the same time as application
March 6 RPAL Application received
March 28 credit card charged
April 4 RPAL processed waiting two weeks for it to come in the mail

Never interviewed nor were my references contacted. I never contacted the RCMP or anyone. I checked online today and found out I had been processed yesterday, when I called to find out my pal number so I could order my first firearm..

Way easy for me!

So waited my 2 weeks after the website said my lic. was issued. Called in a spoke with a very nice lady who informed me my lic. had not yet been printed and was in line to be printed next week, than would be mailed out. She was more than happy to provide me with my pal number as well. My question is with having my lic. issued and having the number on hand would i be able to order online as there is a sale i would rather not miss. Thanks in advance.

I don't know if they have fixed the issue or not but I called the CFO yesterday about another issue and she mentioned that they were having printing problems so everything is backlogged for printing new licenses or renewal licenses. I don't know how quickly they have fixed this issue or if they have it all but, just a heads up for anyone who is waiting.

Feel free to order away. Just don’t go to the range or transport anything until the card shows up.

get used to waiting and disappointment, i am from BC and waiting 200+ days ....with no updates other than it is with the cfo for final review (9 months)

I just got approved after nearly the same wait time you're currently at, I sent my application in June 2018 and it was only approved last month. You need to take steps to expedite it or they will never get around to it. Guessing you checked one of the personal history boxes as thats what was delaying mine. Contact your MP/Write a letter to the CFO. Once my MP reached out to the CFO dealing with my file they approved it on spot. Hang in there man you're nearly there

How soon would you reach out to an MP?

I checked yes to 16d but my application has only been with them for 33 days. As of day 30 my application was with the Ontario CFO for "final approval" so that could mean it could be approved any day now or maybe in a few months like your own experience.

If "final approval" from the CFO is them investigating you becuase your application was flagged, don't expect it to come any time soon. The Ontario CFO who's been looking into my application says he has people who "have been waiting for years".

My guess is approved by end of the year. Defiantly not happening spring/ summer

Is there any way to tell if you're flagged?

Is checking off yes to one of those questions an automatic flagging?

To add a bit more information, I decided to call the CFO this morning and was told they have my application and it's been assigned to someone, but I guess they haven't done anything with it.

Wouldn’t all applications be assigned to an officer though? I’m assuming applications come in and get assigned for one person to process.
