PAL Wait Time

Update:

I got a call today while I was at work from an "unknown" number. It was the CFO requesting I call back when I can. I called as soon as lunch break started. He just wanted to inform me that my application has been approved and to remind me to keep the peace and be of good nature. Only took them 25 months. But hey, at least they're screening people, which I approve of. And now to window shop while I wait for my card :D YAY!!!

Congrats!! That gives me hope for my application. They recieved it August 2018, and I haven't heard anything since. Like you, I've called and called, to be told the same thing each time. "It's with the CFO."

Thank you. I can't wait to get out there.

Yes. From the day the got it (October 11,2017 to the day the CFO called me November 5,2019)

It's infuriating to spend 30-45 minutes of YOUR time on hold just to be told a very vague response. The system should have it where they are required to contact you after a certain time to update you. Even if it's "The CFO is just verifying your references" or something like that.

Jeez 25 months, I commend you for having the patience.

It’s rare to see denials, I’m sure it happens but haven’t seen too many on cgn.

Thank you. It's not like I can go kicking in their doors and demand answers. Although, the last time I called and got the call center, I got this really nice woman who responded, and I told her that I just wanted to go hunting, and someone told me about getting a writ of mandamus, but I really don't want to take it to court, but it's been almost 2 years. And about a month later, I got a call from the CFO. A quick chat later and he said he'll review our talk, call my references if he feels it's necessary, then hopefully have an answer soon. I get a call a few weeks later, application approved :D. I'm glad the RCMP are screening people as I mentioned, but come on. 2 years?!?!?!?!

hey thanks for the reply it showed up online i expect mine to take longer i have had a peace bond back in 2003 soo my record isnt spotless .

I checked the status of my application the other day and it said completed initial processing and it's now in progress or something like that, and I checked today and it says (No licence applications were found. Please check again at a later date.) I'm sure I entered my info correctly so any idea what's going on ?

Just the pal and yes I checked a box for an incident with the police, but I have not been charged in 5 years. When I was like 13 or 14 I did some dumb stuff and was charged but I'm 20 now.

your guess is as good as mine, i remember my cfsc instructor said the wait times were 6 months to a year on average in my area in ontario. they process alot of these applications so they might take a while to get to yours so i guess calling them for an update is a good idea just incase they need any info it will speed it up to call rather than waiting for them to call you.

I called a few times but haven't got through to the cfo.

When I called in to the call center, I told the rep that I saw in forums and was told by my CFSC instructor that you can request to be interviewed by the CFO and have your references call in to skip the waiting of the CFO deciding whether or not to call. They responded by saying that they have never heard of such a thing, and that it was not possible. The CFO would only contact me or my references if they feel it's necessary. I've also tried calling every few days, and they seem to have gotten annoyed with that saying that I only need to call every 4-6 weeks, and every 30 days, if you call, they will pass a not to the CFO informing you that you called to enquire about your application.
So you wont get through to the CFO themselves unless they call you, or there's a note or something telling the call rep to transfer your call to them.
