PAL Wait Time

My story
I`m gonna be straight foward. I`ve been waiting for a restricted PAL liscense for more then a year now. I sent in all my information for my application. It was processed by the RCMP and sent for final approval to the chief firearms office of the province i live in witch is Quebec (La sureté du Québec). I`m not gonna lie I caught a case when I was 17 and it`s a delicat subject. I got caught at school with a loaded Sig sauer p226 pellet gun in my backpack. No I didn`t plan on shooting up the joint and i didn`t take it out of my bag or brandished it. It was totally concealed. I cooperated with the cops and they just took the gun and gave me a 120$ ticket. During the previous week before the incident, I was going through a rough time cause i lost someone dear to me in my family and mainly bought the gun to get my mind off things and brought it with me where ever I went to keep my spirit up. I liked guns and sent my application in november 8th 2019 but remember I caught a case on july 17 2019. I call them but they keep on saying to wait. I`m 19 now but personally I think, they think i`m the next school shooter because of that mistake I made back in july 2019
. It truly hurts cause I`m genuenly a nice and kind person and made one fullish mistake but I think their gonna judge me cause of that one mistake.

They’ll be able to get the rcmp to finalize your application. A year is a long time. Even if refused then you have an answer and can proceed from there. People will say to keep waiting or that’s no sweat but it’s completely unreasonable. Even with a four month back log waiting that long is to long.

If you’ve been waiting over four months, I would start digging. If anyone after you had received there license before you, there’s a good chance you were flagged. If you are flagged god knows how long it will take for the cfo to answer. Thus your next move should be a nice email to your mp, if no reply go in person or call and repeat your email. They will be able to finalize it for you. Don’t describe your reason why you want a pal. Describe what the situation is and how you feel. KEEP IT PROFESSIONAL. Keep in mind if you have any charges, or anything that would come up. Will be flagged and you’ll have to wait. MP may help. The rcmp flag applications for public safety, their doing their job. From road side prohibition (and yes and irp, dui if you will, will get you flagged,) to actual jail time charges, assault, fraud, and or mischief and so on. Anything that has happened as a youth is on there. I have spoken with people from the rcmp. After it is flagged it is awaiting approval. Any of you that have no history with police. Excluding minor tickets. Speeding and what not. You’ll expect about a four month delay and then 3 week time till approval. I find not much help in calling. After it is with the cfo, call until the cfo has it every week or two. Don’t worry about getting flagged, ask about your status. I hope some of this helped even one of you. I’ve been waiting since early July which isn’t as bad as some of you. Some of you I would say to pursue and dig deeper and fight for your license, waiting over six months is bizarre even in covid times.. Best of luck, still waiting aswell.
My application was received in the middle of August, but I submitted a personal check which may delay my application. It is a bad idea to use personal cheque, I have regretted
I used money order, i believe personal cheque is at least 5 days to clear, same with money orders, should be 2 days
yesterday I walked in a canadiantire store and asked for a firearm catalogue , staff said no catalogue. I then asked do they carry SKS she said no too. I am pretty sure Canadiantire have better price than cabelas
buddy you need to wait, report back after 2 month, im here with augusts, and have no charge yet
please update when you see it appears online, it seems they have stalled with processing new applications, a month ago i would see july applicants popping up here and there telling us theirs got charged/processed. now its time for august and i havent seen a single soul reporting their august applications
