PAL Wait Time

Sorry to hear that man, this is absolutely ridiculous. If I was you I'd definitely think about a lawyer especially you say you have NO record, but honestly I don't know how helpful the lawyer can be.
If you don't mind me asking, what do they say when you ask them about the dely, what's behind it ??

I called the CFO and after getting the same bull response for the 15th time, I asked to speak with a supervisor on the basis that I had concerns that my application had been lost and wanted some verification that it was being worked on. The guy on the phone then got annoyed and said that I need to be patient and that it's in the final stages of the background check (which I have been told since December 2019) I then told him that I have had background checks done before and it never takes over a year, he gave me a snarky response asking what I had a background check for and said this was different because it was a firearms license. I just told him that my company had done work for the Canadian Military and we needed clearance for certain areas and that shut him up. Then I was put on hold and then sent to someone's answering machine with no indication who I was leaving a message for so I just hung up. That was January 19th. My license was issued on the 29th :d

Timeline:
2019-11-16/17: 2 day CFSC/CRFSC course completed.

2019-12-16: Your application has completed initial processing. Its is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.
2019-12-30: Contacted BC CFO through extension, was told that she looked at my application and sent it on to the CFO and should be a few weeks for application to be issued
2020-01-14: Contacted BC CFO through extension, and was told that my application had been sent for further review and to contact them in 3 months if application not issued (was told by another person 1 month)

Since then I called once every 30 days as advised and was told the exact same thing every time "we have no idea/it's in the final stages"

Gice that 4000 number a call again. When they answer ask if they can put you through to the bc cfo office. Ask them if anything ia required. When i did this my application was approved within 5 minutes. Give it a try.
Yeah, I had been calling the CFO directly using the extension line. Turns out they didn't need anything at all. My references were never contacted either.

Once the fee had been processed, it was around 14 days for a new licence to be delivered.

I spoke with them over a processing error, really friendly and helpful. Not what I was expecting. Problem solved in a 15 minute phone call. Consider me impressed.

Candocad.

They received my mail on Sept. 30th.

My CC was charged on the 22nd of Janurary.

Still in progress.... will update when something happens.

I'm in southern Ontario. This is for RPAL license upgrade.

Can you go out an purchase a restricted firearm if your license is issued but hasn't arrived in the mail yet?

I was October 2nd, still waiting as well. CC Charged January 26th. Southern Ontario too. When I called to inquire if they had everything they needed, I was told (by a quite rude lady) a firearms application takes 45 days to process, so it will be awhile yet. **eyeroll**

I was polite to her but I'm sure she shoved my paperwork to the bottom of the pile. 😫 just gonna forget about it until it happens lol.

Hi,

QC here.

Application received OCT 16 2020
Visible online February 05
Just called this morning to the SQ ( ext 7005 ) office and a very nice lady approved my license right away.

She gave me my license number and card should be here in 2 weeks.

** it is not the best thing to rush them to approve it but being polite and patient is the best advice to get that license quicker than normal **

Pro tip : make the lady laugh on the phone.

Cheers and good look to everyone

What the heck, mine has been visible since January 26th...can you just call and politely see if they can approve it? Everything on my application checks out and I have no criminal record at all.
