PAL Wait Time

Does anybody else have the situation where in the application portal, their application status shows as submitted (and references completed), but in the Individual Web Services portal, my application can't be found.

For clarity, these are the sites that I mean:

This is the application portal: https://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/apply-a-firearms-licence
This is the Individual Web Services site: https://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/firearms/individual-web-services

Are you entering your details correctly?

Hi All,

Happy to report my final post in regard to my PAL.

Mailed Application: October 8, 2022
Application Received: November 2, 2022
Credit Card Charged: December 3, 2022
Application Approved: December 12, 2022
Card Printed: Jan 31, 2023
Card Received: Feb 6, 2023

Also, between application approval and card printing, I called every 2 weeks for an update.

Best of luck to anyone else currently waiting.

My application was received on November 4th and approved in early December. I was able to use the license details to buy a firearm online in December.
I called 3 or 4 times to inquire about when I would receive the printed card.
My most recent call was on Monday; the agent told me that the card was 'approved" at the end of January. This was confusing to me since, as far as I knew, the license was approved in December. What she should have said was that the card itself was approved for printing and mailing on January 31st.
I got the printed card today, it might have arrived yesterday - I didn't check the mailbox.
Mine's the new card format.
I'm in Ontario.

Quite the process. Glad it's over. Interestingly, the card expires in November (my birth month) 2028. I thought they were valid for 5 years. I'm not complaining.

Congrats on your PAL.

I find when you speak to people at the RCMP, its a grab bag. Sometimes you get someone who knows what they are talking about, sometimes you get someone who, I feel, just says anything to get you off the phone.

Happy hobbying!

Here is my timing

Ontario PAL, it expired 2006, took the course in May 2022
mail opened June 27
CC charged Sept 15
emailed CFO Oct 12 asking if there are any issues
CFO (KAM) emailed back Oct 19, no issues expect 9 month wait
Emailed CFO again Nov 13 - received no reply
Jan 4 application approved and processed
called Jan 18 at 2:30pm, waited 14 minutes, not printed yet maybe in a month
Feb 1 card was in the mail

That same /kam emailed me the same thing expect a wait of 9 months, it’s already been 10 months, I’m not sure how they go about this people that applied months after me get it but me they don’t pick up all I get is a voicemail saying everyone’s busy call back another time, I called the head rcmp office and they keep telling me that they are waiting on ontarios cfo to send back my approval and to call them but like I said they never pick up, rings once goes to voicemail other times it rings a couple times and goes to voicemail… ughhh

It should hopefully be in the any day. It was quite the process mentally, when the card finally showed up in the mail I felt like life can now go on.

Sent paper applications for both me and my wife, (same envelope) in Québec, on Dec 16th 2022. I registered on the RCMP's online service portal and found out on Jan 24th, that both our PAL had been approved and issued. It took less than 5 weeks. BUT, when will the cards be delivered, will have to wait and see.
UPDATE
Called Miramichi and confirmed PAL had been approved. They gave me my PAL number and told me card remains to be printed. But don't know when that would happen.
UPDATE
We both got our cards today, Fev 9th. Took a total of 54 days from start to finish. Both got the new style cards. All dates the same for us, we had the same contacts (who were never contacted). I suppose sending the 2 paper applications in the same envelope helped!
And everybody was telling us about 6 months wait time!!!

Okay, so i know couple of people, who have applied for PAL in Jan week 1 and are approved. My application was submitted online in December 2022 (Mid ). I am thinking that me being born in a different country is the reason of this delay. I came to Canada 8 years ago and spent 24 years in my home country. So probably a background check is being done and its taking time.

You are absolutely correct. I have spoken to animated, polite, knowledgeable individuals and to one who made it plain that my call was not worth her while. And every shade between.
Sure glad I don't need to call them for a long time now.

There is no evidence that the RCMP singles out naturalized Canadian applicants for extra scrutiny. None of my references was called and there were no additional questions asked because I happen to be born outside Canada. Reading through this forum, it's plain that the likeliest cause of approval delays are the applicant's entry of sloppy or incomplete information or the details entered in Section C, the Personal History section of the application form.

Sent In new pal/rpal applications for the Gf and I. Seperate envelopes.
Received: Nov,23,2022 (both)
viewable: Dec,17,2022 (for the Gf) Mine had an error and I called in to fix it.I knew once hers was viewable there was something wrong with mine(forgot city born in)... Mine was viewable the day I called to fix which was 3 days later.

I have a criminal history so I wasnt expecting mine to be fast. My Gf does not have a history. we called a couple times over the last two months and were told in January that our applications were sent to cfo ontario.
Fast forward to 02,13,23 Gf called cfo ontario, she was told her application would be put through to someone for a final review and to wait 5 to 10 days for an answer.
As for myself I was told in January to wait upto 9 months.(because of history)

This is one of those times that calling did help, as the Girlfriend was hesitant, I assured her they are super nice and its not an issue to ask, she is now SO HAPPY she called haha. Fingers crossed, will update in the coming days.

Congrats to all the approved peoples!!

Unfortunately I have quite a few runins with the law, from 2016 to about 2018 from assult to breaches to driving convictions.
I'm still hopeful I'll be accepted as it was a brief period in my life which was very much influenced by someone else. Nothing was with weapons and I got nothing more than probation for any of my convictions (after waiting in jail for court or bail) and I mainly plead guilty not knowing what I was doing but taking advice of duty counsel... My Advice, Always get a Lawyer. Never plead guilty to get out of jail faster.. it will bite you in the ass later, as this is what I'm dealing with now. I'm also In the midst of getting my record suspension.

No peace bonds right?
