For a factory rig, it is a very competent rifle. The problem is the factory barrel - Savage has built a solid reputation for having some very accurate barrels BUT you are still rolling the dice on what you will end up with.
Adding a match barrel is easy enough but now you are spending more money and own factory parts you don't want.
Also the twist is listed as 13 which will limit how heavy you can go in bullet weight. 155 to 175, maybe even 185. The rifle is of course geared to the historical Palma shooting with 155/156gr bullets. Depending on the game you choose, the rules on bullet weight may have changed rendering the twist too limiting.
The stock functions will fit most shooters but the cost is getting up there such that you can assemble a similar rifle using 'better' components.
If shooting TR/Palma, ergonomics is critical and if the stock doesn't fit properly, you now have a very expensive door stop. See if you can try one out for fit.
The trigger is nice but typically doesn't go as light as listed. The action works just fine
Bedding and bolt timing will be beneficial for sure. Bolt timing makes the bolt lift and cycling way easier and lighter. It will make running the rifle way nicer - contact me if you want this done.
