Mark Critch was the only part of it that was newsworthy. They'll have to come up with a lot more than $165 for me to give up my sealing license, that's for sure.
I'll give up seal hunting here if Pamela comes to visit and asks me in person.

You think its a little "barbaric" because you're projecting your emotion based opinion into the equation, and ignoring the science. Killing anything isn't pretty. Ask the animals that gave you your supper or leather products.
I am guessing you aren't a hunter, then, because you would never shoot more than once.
Inhumane? Think about that statement the next time you're standing over your BBQ cooking steak, then go visit a slaughter plant.
If a seal looked like a chicken, we would not even be having this debate.

You can get mens' boots (without the heels) in sealskin.
No, actually I think it is a little barbaric because a club is the weapon that cave men used to hunt with... I'm not against the seal hunt, not at all, so don't get that impression. I believe that people should have the right to hunt seals every bit as much as they should have the right to hunt anything else. I do on the other hand feel that walking up to the animal and hitting it in the head until it is dead is not the best way to win any popularity points with the media or non hunters.
No, I'm not a hunter. I have no need to hunt, therefore I don't. I can provide food for my table and clothing for my family without killing so I don't do it.
And yes, I know I know, that food that I eat was killed by someone, and I'm fine with that, that's the circle of life and the food chain. But, if I was a hunter, I would never take a shot that I wasn't sure was a good one. When hunting with a rifle you have a very good chance, with proper shot placement, that you are going to quickly and humainly kill the animal with one shot.
How can you compare walking up to an animal and hitting it on the head with a club that you KNOW is not going to kill it with the first shot to shooting it in the head with a rifle, something that will kill with one shot? I view it as inhumane because the animal suffers. And if you want to argue with that, let someone hit you in the head with a club and tell me that you don't suffer because of it.
Just for the record, I have seen the way that the meat that I buy is put to death, and it is as humaine as possible. There are lots of plants out there that are not, no question, but I choose to pay a little more for locally raised, hormone and chemical free meat that is killed quickly and humainly.
This professional bimbo should stick to blowing rock stars.
News flash. Shooting a seal with a rifle isn't going to make PETA et al shut up and go away. Truth is, it has nothing to do with how the animal is dispatched. Its merely a propaganda talking point. See other PETA policies for why.
I don't need to hunt, either, but I enjoy both the activity and bringing wild game to the table. Another news flash. You're NOT able to provide food for your table and clothing for your family without killing. You just don't do it yourself.
You're not a hunter, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to you that your "one shot - one instant kill" theory is about as realistic as providing food and clothing for your family without there being any killing involved.
You're back to believing the propaganda again, because the club or hakapik is quite capable of killing with a single blow. But let's be honest, the suffering isn't really a problem for you. You're quite happy to let someone else inflict it for you.
You obtain all of your meat and leather products locally? Impressive. I'm curious to hear about these fail safe humane methods.
LOL maybe if she blew sealers instead of rock stars they'd quit![]()
On a side note, could someone here in NL with a seal licence help me obtain one? I know my FIL had one for personal use. I think he was allowed 5 seals a year.
Thanks.
