So I finally got my 40/65 from Doug, (big hassles with Canada Post), and had some fun with it yesterday with fire forming brass with IMR 4227.
However I found that using real black powder seems to be a lot easier to with with , I think the compressed charge helps to keep the bullet centered as it enters the case.
These are a few of the paper patched bullets I did this morning using 6o grains of FFFG:cool:

Hey Cat, can I ask what make and model of rifle? Are you patching greasers or do you have a dedicated PP mould? I recently picked up a pair of Uberti 1885's from an estate. One is a 38-55 and the other is a 40-65. Part of the package was some BP ammo for the 38-55. I've been shooting it to reclaim the brass. Accuracy is terrible, barely stays on the paper! The previous owner was in his mid 80's when he passed. He had the 38-55 drilled and tapped for scope bases and a Simmons scope was on the rifle, so no excuse for the poor groups! The 40-65 came with a Marble's tang sight and the original front. I installed a Soule rear sight and a Lee Shaver globe front and that rifle shoots very well with 32 Grs IMR4895 and a 400 gr. powder coated Snover bullet, sized .410".

Howdy! I am casting a dedicated paper patch bullet , my rifle is Pedersoli Sharps rifle with Soule sights
