paper patching

I've heard of using masking tape but never tried it. Isn't the paper suppose to peel itself OFF the bullet when it leaves the muzzle? Won't the tape remain ON the bullet or is the pressure so high it peels off? I've PP'ed for a 450 Marlin with good results using very thin (onion skin?) paper, 2 wraps. I wanted to get a load using soft lead for hunting but switched to pouring a SOFT NOSE alloy followed by a HARD BASE alloy.

I've done the soft nose cast thing. main reason i'm wanting to do this is its over bore and most of the wheel weights I get are stick on
