Para G.I. expert

You're gonna hear a lot of complaining about Para, but I love mine (although it's not a GI Expert).

I've handled the GI Expert and I thought it was very nice, tight, with a pretty nice trigger. People are complaining that for a pistol named "GI" it has attributes that aren't ever on military pistols, like a skeletonized hammer, etc., but do you care?
 
I sure don't. I'm too old to join the military and I'm not a collector, I'm a shooter.......lol. I'm looking for a good 1911 entry gun that I can build on and modify later if I want to.
 
Me, I'd take the Auto-Ord GI model over this new Para offering.

IMO, Para makes some of the worst 1911s out there, both in terms of reliability and overall quality. It is the only 1911 (to the best of my knowledge) that comes with a cast slide, which explains the frequent slide cracking/peening complaints you hear in respect of Para pistols.
 
Well I don't share your opinions boys...

I have just received a Para LTC in 9mm and love it. It shoots great and the fit and finish is ok.

I have had STIs in the past but would not hesitate to recommand this. At 1000$ I think it's great. In my hand, this 4.25 barreled gun shoots better that my shadow.

You guys may be right about the frame but I don't plan on shooting 10 000 rounds in it but so far so good...
 
I do not share the "nay sayers" view. I have two Paras, a LDA Compact and an early Para frame that I put together. Both of these will hold their own with any 1911 I have fired. Lastly, Gun World gave the Para GI Expert a very good review and the reviewer kept the test gun. Regards, Richard :)
 
you cant go wrong with a norc, or go with the bottom of the barrel kimber and save yourself some headache
