Para ordinance 1911 broken extractor

Hello all,
As the title explains I’ve got a Para Ordinance 1911 made for Canadian military. First time out at the range it was failing to extract. Took home and dismantled to find the extractor is broken. Fun times buying used firearms! Fair enough. I’m wondering if anyone knows where I can track down an OEM or aftermarket extractor. I’ve heard good things about Aftec. I wouldn’t mind giving one of those a go. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
P.S. I’ve contacted Para Ordinance US themselves. Awaiting a response.

The Aftec extractors are pricey but they are relatively easy to install and perform great . Any quality extractor will work well but the Aftec are heads up to most . Double Tap has good service and stock most everything in regards to Aftec units .

is it a internal or a external Extractor ?

Any 1911 name brand extractor should work ..... just get right Caliber ... very Minor fitting ... youtube

I'll second the suggestion to get an Aftec from Double Tap Sports. It takes a bit of gunsmithing and not losing the tiny springs, but it's a very good positive extractor. And with C-71's new anti-gunsmith provisions there's added incentive to learn how to fix your own 1911.

Any 1911 extractor will work. FYI they were not made for the Canadian Military. They never was used by the Canadian forces. They were limited EDT solider appreciation batch.

If it’s one of the CF marked tan 1911s it may have the proprietary pxt extractors which uses an oversized extractor hole. You may need a sleeve to fill in the extra space. EGW makes a specific replacement for the pxt. I just ordered one from freedom ventures. Good luck with the extractor tuning. You tube has many videos on it.

That’s interesting. It is stamped with some battle group number. TF 1-08 and 2 PPCLI BG. Gibberish to me but the brother in law says it was know battle group in Kandahar in 08? Something like that. I’ve ordered the Aftec from DASports. Hopefully they accept returns if it’s the wrong unit.

Para had a program where they would mark the sf45 double stack and single stack 1911s with CF and maple leaf or the tour/task force battle group information for specific rotations. I had a generic CF double stack in 2008 timeframe. I’m not exactly sure when Para started with the Power Extractor(PXT) but it was around the same time as that military appreciation program and when they eventually moved to the US. I recently picked up an SSP model with the stylized PXT marking on the slide so I preemptively picked up the EGW for when/if the PXT fails. If your failed extractor is one solid piece then you are good to go. If it is the 3-4 piece pxt you may need a sleeve for it. Google image the pxt to see if that matches what you removed from your gun. Beyond that I’m not sure if they annotated which models had it. Good luck

I have a Para TF-108 single stack 1911 and can confirm you will need the larger PXT replacement extractor from EGW. The original PXT extractors were junk to begin with.

Update!

Received the Aftec extractor from DA Sports and it's certainly too thin. I am after the oversized "PXT" extractor. Have ordered one through Gravel Angency. Turns out I had an account with them already? I was on the hunt for a part previously and forgot about them somehow. Fired an email of to DA Sports to inquire about returns. Otherwise it'll be on the EE forum with extra springs! I'll have to give Para a call to run the serial number and find out more about this pistol next week. Thanks again to all responses thus far.

Update #2

After two months of waiting the package arrives in the mail today. Finally I can repair my 1911 and get the damned thing to the range. Except nope. Gravel agency has sent a random small spring with my part number written on the bag. Not my extractor. Not any extractor. Nothing that resembles an extractor. Royally pissed off with this gravel agency. I don’t know how you can read “EXTRACTOR” look at some variety of a spring and go yup. That looks good send it out. I’m at a loss for words.
