I just bought a Para ordinance High cap pistol chambered for 40. s&W,i'm wonderin if anyone here has experience withe para ordinance and if they are a decent sidearm?

Good choice. I bought the P16-40 Limited back in 2000, shot it for a summer and then bought a P13-45 Limited. A little wide for those of us with stubby fingers but accurate out of the box and real nice to look at! I think a LTC single stacker is on the way!!!!;)

Congrats on joining the Para club. I have a Para SSP in .45ACP and I love mine. Very accurate, one of the best value's in a 1911, and Para is a Canadian based company, you can't beat that.

I had one and it was a great gun,did have a few problems, don't hesitate to call Para they are great to deal with,I sold it to buy a STi edge, which I like a whole lot more.I definately wouldn't turn down another one though if I were looking for a good gun

para is a very good gun to buy. Sturdy, Reliable and very accurate . para's breaking fast is very unlikey since the gun is made from steel so it wont break
very well known in ipsc you will see a lot of standard shooters will have a para
and its a Canadian Made gun for all you CANADIAN GUN NUTZ

I really like my Paras, however, you will find there are some guys who just have to bash them. There are some better made 1911 pistols on the market, however, for the most part you will be paying significantly more for those brands. In terms of price and performance, I have zero complaints with any of my paras. Just buy GOOD magazines.

I do recall some early Paras had metallurgical problems and there were a few who developed frame/slide cracks, however, that problem was fixed years ago. QC is much better at Para today, than even 8-10 years ago. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Para if that is what you're attracted to. Enjoy your purchase, I'm pretty sure you'll ultimately be quite pleased!:)

Just an aside though! I would also recommend NOT using the adjective, "hi-cap" it is a standard capacity pistol, as that is what the pistol was designed for! We HAVE to elimidate those "loaded" terms from general recreational firearms community usage. Using terms like "hi-cap" mags, "assault" rifles, etc...merely serves to propagate ignorance and the misconceptions held by non-gun owners and wayward liberals.

one problem I had was the slide cracked by the ejection port, the gun was about 3-4 years old,I called Para and they replaced the slide for free, the other problems that I had were all normal 1911 problems eg:extractor and ejector broken both also replaced for free,as I said I really liked the gun and wouldn't think twice about buying another one,I sold mine to a good friend and he loves it too,he has had no problems with it in the 2 years that he has owned it.

ffffff

dont mean to hijack but.........
