AFIK Paraordinance just HAPPENS to be located in Canada. They are clearly only concerned with the US market and could care less for Canadians.

That is the nature of todays immigrant. Come here and take what you want. Don't ever feel the need to put something back.

Rant off.

Para-Ordnance markets nearly exclusively in the U.S. They keep the fact that they're stuff is made here very quiet. Canadians can't even enter any of their contests. In any case, we have no "gun rights".

Perhaps you should let Para know your feelings. George Wedge posts here occasionally under the name G Wedge.

Here Here, regarding Para's lack of attention to Canadian customers. That said, Para representative George Wedge is a gentleman and extremely attentive to all customers, American or Canadian. I'd be willing to buy a Para pistol because they have some great guns, they pay Canadian salaries and pay Canadian taxes. The fact the George works for them is icing on the cake! :canadaFlag:

Para Ordinance does contribute to CSSA and has provided pistols for raffles in the past. Ted Szabo (may he rest in peace) always appeared supportive of gun rights.

I would love to see a CSSA-CILA commemorative P16-40 but I don't know if Para could sell enough of them to offer it at a decent price.

Reality is there aren't enough gunnutz in this country to keep a major firearms manufacturer afloat.
If I was in the same business I wouldn't care about selling to Canadians either.
The US is the market to target if you wanna make serious money. Doesn't matter what your sellin'

Canada: 30 (some odd) million
USA: 300 (some odd) million

There's more people in California than Canada.

And undoubtedly MANY more PARAs are sold in California than our entire country.

It's nice that they manufacture in Canada. But the REAL bread and butter is in the US.

Canadian sales would be akin to... toast crumbs in the butter.

Funny, I sent a few emails to Para asking for info on how I could buy a Para in Canada. I never got a single damned reply.

I email Kimber and they bend over backwards for me. WTF?

Kimber rocks! Para sucks!! :p

I bought a 16-40 Limited last year, and I based my decision to buy the Para over other manufacturers at least partly on the fact that they're made in Canada. It did cost more than other comparable firearms, but I felt it was worth supporting a Canadian company.

That being said, I was disappointed to see that the "Made in Canada" markings were located on the bottom/underside of the frame while "Ft. Lauderdale, USA" was located prominently on the side. I guess a lot of potential US buyers would be turned off if they saw the United States of America getting second billing.

Here's a business plan to take to the bank.
"I'm going to start manufacturing handguns in Canada"

I support Para whole-heartedly. Their business model is such that it panders to the Americans, and for good reason. They know where the $ are, and bring the profits home to Kanata.

I don't blame them one iota.

What I wouldn't give for a Warthog......

As to the Ft. Lauterdale markings... Arn't they sent there to be assembled because IIRC there were some issues about parts etc disapearing from the Canadian factory. Not trying to stir the pot just wondering if anyone else remembers this?

On that note I own two Paras, at least partly because there a Canadian company and also a kick ass gun for a good price!!

Yes I remember a few years ago an employee was smuggling parts out and reassembilng them for sale on the black market.

Yeah, And they have to ship all there parts to the US for assembly now I think. Still one of the better Canadian guns IMHO.
